This page provides a detailed installation guide for both Windows and Linux machines
- Download the latest binary file.
- Download the set up script.
- Locate to your downloads directory:
cd ~/Downloads
- Make the script executable:
chmod +x setUp.sh
- Run the script (make sure you downloaded the binary file first):
./setUp.sh
- Download the latest binary file.
- Download the set up script.
- Open the PowerShell and Locate the script:
cd $Home\Downloads- Run the script
.\setUp.ps1No such directory error:
If you get this error associated with .local folder try:
- Creating the directory
mkdir ~/.local && cd ~/.local && mkdir bin
- Rerun the script
cd ~/Downloads && ./setUp.sh
If you get this error, cp: cannot stat '/home/name/Downloads/filemanager': No such file or directory, make sure you have downloaded the binary file before running the script.
Administration Previlages
- If you faced any errors with privileges, you may need to adjust powershell execution policy to run scripts.
Set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned- If you face an additional error that contains Set-ExecutionPolicy: Access to the registry key.....try the following:
Open PowerShell without running as administrator
- Run the command:
Set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned -Scope Currentuser- Locate the script
cd $Home\Downloads- Rerun the script
.\setUp.ps1Open PowerShell as administrator
- Run the command:
Set-ExecutionPolicy RemoteSigned- Locate the script
cd $Home\Downloads- Rerun the script
.\setUp.ps1hopefully this works :)
Open PowerShell as administrator
- Run the command:
Set-ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted -Scope Process- Locate the script
cd $Home\Downloads- Rerun the script
.\setUp.ps1- Enter R to run
- Clone or download the project
git clone https://github.com/aust21/file-manager.git

Create a Virtual Environment
For Linux
python3 -m venv venv
source venv/bin/activate
For Windows
python -m venv venv
venv\Scripts\activate
- Install the dependancies
pip install -r requirements.txt
- Try to improve the code without breaking a lot of stuff :)
