What issue are you seeing?
am a ChatGPT Pro subscriber paying approximately US$200 per month. I am reporting several regressions introduced during the recent Mac desktop-app transition.
Environment
ChatGPT Classic for macOS
Version 1.2026.184 (1784145287)
ChatGPT Pro account
Date observed: 22 July 2026
Issue 1: Pro model cannot be selected in normal chats
The model picker displays Auto, Pro, Thinking, and legacy models. In every normal chat, including a newly created chat, selecting Pro has no effect and the conversation remains on Auto. Pro can be selected successfully only while Temporary Chat is enabled. Disabling Temporary Chat immediately returns the model to Auto.
I have already:
signed out and signed back in;
restarted the application;
tested an existing conversation;
tested a brand-new normal conversation;
tested Temporary Chat.
The result is fully reproducible. This demonstrates that my account has Pro access, but ChatGPT Classic is not applying it to normal conversations.
Issue 2: Generated files cannot be downloaded in the new Mac app
ChatGPT successfully generates LaTeX, ZIP, Markdown, and other files, but the displayed filenames and “Download” text are not clickable. Recreating the files under shorter names does not help. The same files can be retrieved only by leaving the application and using the web Library.
This has disrupted a large scientific manuscript and reproducibility project involving LaTeX, Python scripts, historical astronomical tables, NASA/JPL data, figures, and an approximately 80 MB archive.
Issue 3: Library is unavailable in the Mac applications
The Library containing generated and uploaded files is available only through the browser. Neither the new Mac app nor ChatGPT Classic provides an equivalent complete file-retrieval workflow. This makes the desktop application unsuitable for sustained document- and code-based research without repeatedly switching to a browser.
Professional impact
I am an academic affiliated with MIT and the University of Oxford and also work in senior scientific leadership at Shell. Before this update, the Mac application supported my manuscript and scientific-computing workflow well. I did not request the migration, and the replacement has removed or broken functionality on which I relied.
Please:
Escalate the Pro-selection regression to the macOS desktop engineering team.
Escalate the non-clickable generated-file problem to the desktop engineering team.
Restore reliable model selection in ordinary ChatGPT Classic conversations.
Restore direct downloading of generated files from the desktop application.
Provide Library access, or an equivalent complete file manager, in the Mac application.
Confirm whether these defects are known and provide an estimated repair timeline.
Review whether a service credit is appropriate for a period during which paid Pro functionality has been inaccessible in normal desktop conversations.
Please do not respond only with instructions to reinstall, sign out, or use the browser; those steps have either already been tested or do not restore the previous desktop workflow. I request that this be treated as a reproducible paid-product regression and assigned to the appropriate product and engineering teams.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
Feedback ID: no-active-thread-019f8bba-c9fb-7a03-ab01-fe445933c76f
What is the expected behavior?
No response
Additional information
Why did you do this to me! I do not deserve this! I pay 200 USD/moth for this? Really?
