What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?
26.721.41059 (build 5848)
What subscription do you have?
Pro
What platform is your computer?
Darwin 25.5.0 arm64 arm
What issue are you seeing?
The Codex Micro configuration screen includes actions named “Switch to mode 1” and “Switch to mode 2,” but they do not provide a working way to switch between the ChatGPT and Codex views in the unified desktop app.
When “Switch to mode 1” is assigned to the Micro’s analog stick, triggering it displays “Shortcut unavailable.”
When “Switch to mode 2” is assigned, it does not switch between ChatGPT and Codex. In my testing, it toggles the sidebar instead.
The corresponding commands are absent from the app’s Keyboard Shortcuts list. Pressing Control+1 or Control+2 on the Mac keyboard also does nothing. The top-left ChatGPT/Codex selector works when clicked manually.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
- Connect a Codex Micro to the ChatGPT desktop app on macOS.
- Enter the Codex view.
- Long-press the Micro’s dial to open Codex Micro settings.
- Open the Analog Stick configuration.
- Assign “Switch to mode 1” to a joystick direction.
- Close the configuration and trigger that direction.
- Observe the “Shortcut unavailable” message.
- Reopen the configuration and assign “Switch to mode 2.”
- Trigger the assigned direction.
- Observe that the app does not switch between ChatGPT and Codex; in my testing, it toggles the sidebar.
- Open the app’s Keyboard Shortcuts dialog and search for “Switch to mode.”
- Observe that there are no matching shortcuts.
What is the expected behavior?
The Codex Micro should provide working, clearly named actions for:
- Switch to ChatGPT
- Switch to Codex
- Optionally, Toggle between ChatGPT and Codex
The actions should work from either view, persist when assigned to a Micro control, and bring the selected view forward.
Ideally, the app should also expose corresponding keyboard shortcuts or supported deep links so the product switcher can be controlled through Work Louder Input and accessibility tools.
