What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?
26.721.11231.0
What subscription do you have?
Plus
What platform is your computer?
Microsoft Windows NT 10.0.26200.0 x64
What issue are you seeing?
The unified ChatGPT/Codex desktop app does not provide an option to switch the application icon back to the original Codex icon.
The official OpenAI documentation states that existing Codex users can choose the Codex app icon in Settings:
https://help.openai.com/en/articles/20001276
When I search for “图标” (“icon”) in Settings, the search results show Appearance → Dock icon. However, there is no Dock icon or App icon section anywhere on the Appearance page.
This makes the settings search result inconsistent with the actual Windows UI.
What steps can reproduce the bug?
Open the ChatGPT/Codex desktop app on Windows 10.
Open Settings.
Search for “图标” (“icon”).
Observe that “Dock icon” appears in the search results.
Click the result or browse the entire Appearance page.
Observe that no icon-selection setting is available.
What is the expected behavior?
The Appearance settings should provide an option to select the original Codex application icon, as described in the official documentation.
Alternatively, if this option is not supported on Windows, the unavailable “Dock icon” search result should not be shown.
Additional information
Installation source: Microsoft Store
The currently displayed application and taskbar icon is the ChatGPT icon.
Screenshots showing the search result and the complete Appearance settings page are attached.
