Codex Desktop macOS: model/reasoning controls intermittently ignore clicks after external display + UI zoom #36616

Description

@cyfcod1977

Summary

Codex Desktop on macOS intermittently ignores clicks on the model selector and reasoning effort selector after connecting an external display and increasing the app UI zoom with Cmd + +.

This appears to be a desktop renderer/UI hitbox or popover positioning issue related to external-display scaling plus in-app/browser zoom. The controls appear visually clickable, but clicking sometimes does nothing.

Environment

  • App: Codex Desktop bundled in ChatGPT.app
  • Codex Desktop version: 26.727.51351
  • Build: 6119
  • Bundled CLI: codex-cli 0.146.0-alpha.9.2
  • macOS: 26.5 build 25F71
  • Hardware/GPU: Apple Silicon M1

Steps to reproduce

  1. Connect the Mac to an external display.
  2. Open Codex Desktop.
  3. Increase the Codex UI zoom using Cmd + +.
  4. Click the model selector or reasoning effort selector.
  5. Observe that the click intermittently has no effect.

Expected behavior

The model selector and reasoning effort selector should open/respond reliably regardless of external-display scaling or Codex UI zoom level.

Actual behavior

After external display usage plus Cmd + + zoom, clicks on the model/reasoning controls intermittently do nothing. The UI looks clickable, but the click appears not to reach the intended control or popover.

Notes

Local app logs did not show an obvious click-handling error. This may be related to display scale factor / Electron browser zoom affecting pointer hit testing or popover placement.
