Scroll position jumps back to my prompt when a response finishes #38412

Description

@Orrin-Manning

What version of the Codex App are you using (From “About Codex” dialog)?

Version 26.803.81509

What subscription do you have?

GPT Plus

What platform is your computer?

Darwin 25.5.0 arm64 arm

What issue are you seeing?

Codex desktop correctly follows the assistant response while it is streaming. However, the instant generation completes, the conversation jumps upward to the previous scroll position.

Specifically, it places my last prompt at the bottom of the viewport, with the completed assistant response entirely below the visible area. I then have to scroll down again to read the end of the response.

This happens every turn, when the conversation is long enough to fill vertical height and engage the follow behavior.

Expected behavior:
When streaming completes, keep the viewport at its current followed position (the bottom of the completed assistant response). It should not restore the pre-stream scroll position.

Actual behavior:
The viewport jumps to the position from before the response began streaming, effectively hiding the response that was just followed live.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Open a Codex desktop task.
  2. Send a prompt that produces a response longer than the viewport.
  3. Leave the conversation untouched while Codex streams; observe that it follows normally.
  4. When the response changes from streaming to complete, observe the immediate jump back to the prompt.

What steps can reproduce the bug?
