What issue are you seeing?
All Codex side chats / side conversations fail to open.
The user-facing error toast is:

This happens for every side-chat attempt, not only for one old or closed conversation.
Normal/main Codex chats work normally: messages can be submitted and the main conversation continues to function.
In Windows Settings, the application is shown as ChatGPT under Installed apps. Opening Advanced options and selecting Repair also fails with:

What steps can reproduce the bug?
- Open Codex Desktop on Windows 11.
- Open or create a normal/main Codex chat.
- Use any available action that opens a side chat / side conversation.
- The side chat fails to open and the toast
打开侧边聊天失败 is shown.
- Repeat from another normal chat or with another side-chat attempt.
- All side-chat attempts fail, while the main chat remains usable.
What is the expected behavior?
A side chat should open successfully from a normal Codex chat, and the user should be able to send messages in it.
A failure affecting one side chat should not make every side-chat attempt fail.
Additional information
- The issue is reproducible across all side-chat attempts tested so far.
- Normal/main chat functionality is not affected.
- Restarting the application has not been confirmed as a permanent fix.
- Windows App Settings Repair was attempted but failed; Reset has not been attempted.
- The local Codex configuration includes a custom model provider, but normal chat remains functional. Testing with the default provider has not yet been performed.
- No API keys, tokens, private conversation content, or local paths are included in this report.
This appears different from reports where only a previously closed or idle side chat cannot be reopened: in this case, newly opened side chats also fail, and the failure affects all side-chat attempts.
