Set the engine version

To ensure the mod works correctly, you must manually update the engine version in the UE4SS settings.

  1. Open the file UE4SS-settings.ini located in the ue4ss folder using a text editor (Notepad, Notepad++, etc.).

  2. The file is located in the ue4ss folder.

  3. Find the following section:

[EngineVersionOverride]
MajorVersion =
MinorVersion =
  1. Modify it so it looks like this:
[EngineVersionOverride]
MajorVersion = 4
MinorVersion = 27
  1. Save the file and restart the game.

🖥️ Command-line pop-up window (optional)

Some mods may display a (black) command-line pop-up window. This is the case with the TerrainTool mod. To avoid this, enable the console:

  • Open the UE4SS-settings.ini file.

In the file, search for and set ConsoleEnabled to 1. Like that:

[Debug]
; Whether to enable the external UE4SS debug console.
ConsoleEnabled = 1
GuiConsoleEnabled = 0
GuiConsoleVisible = 0

🧩 How to install a mod

Go to the "FILES" tab. Under "Main files", download the "normal" version.

Note: Do not download the PAK version if it exists. That version only contains a single .pak file specifically designed for "AstroModLoader Classic" and will not work for a manual installation.

🎮 Steam version

Unzip the mod archive into (GameInstallDir)\Astro\Binaries\Win64\ue4ss\Mods\

How to find the game install directory in Steam?
Right click on the game > Manage > Browse local files.

You can copy options.example.lua (if exists) to options.lua otherwise it will be automatically copied on first run.

🔄 How to update a mod

If there is an options.lua file in the mod and if you already have an older version of the mod installed, delete your existing options.lua file or merge it with the new one.
