What is the importance of !important?

Is there a case where the !important utility helper is necessary? If I switch $enable-important-utilities: false what are the gotchas that I might hit? Could it default to false in v6? Can we use CSS layers to ensure that utilities override components?

CSS layers and no default !important has already been built for v6 :). Coming soon!

In v5 and earlier, the use case was utilities should always take priority over any other selector. Only way to do that until recently was the importance flag.
