v0.8.0 — PDrive Control Center

What’s new

• Introduce one shared Linux portability layer with reviewed package mappings for Linux Mint, Ubuntu, Debian-family systems and Arch Linux instead of distribution-specific branches.
• Add relocatable user-local and native system package layouts while keeping credentials, configuration, state, rclone and every VFS cache namespace in the user profile.
• Publish the first native Arch Linux package candidate, built from the final release commit and validated on a clean Arch Cinnamon/X11 desktop.
• Add privacy-safe desktop promotion reports plus low-resource Arch and Ubuntu checks using disposable rootless Podman containers and GitHub Actions.
• Keep long Control Center pages inside the available desktop work area, with scrolling when a small display cannot show the full page.

The package passed the native package gate, 105-file integrity verification, a 15/15 clean-desktop preflight, Cinnamon/X11 window and language checks, tray actions, Nemo integration and logout/login lifecycle testing. Arch remains a release candidate until configured Proton-account and transfer review is complete; Linux Mint 22.x Cinnamon remains the generally supported reference platform.

Upgrade

Existing source installations can upgrade with:

The installer preserves credentials, configuration, cache, state and user data. The Arch package also keeps all mutable user data outside the package-owned /usr tree.

PDrive is an independent community project, not an official Proton product. rclone continues to label its Proton Drive backend as beta, so keep an independent backup of important data.

• A recovered root-level HTTP 401 session refresh now retains the final related

PDrive 0.7.3 makes authentication issue reporting quieter and more precise.

• A rejected root-level HTTP 401 session refresh is now kept separate from
  earlier file-operation failures. It is marked recovered only after current
  authentication, writable mount and local control-channel checks succeed; it
  remains actionable when that evidence is missing.
• Reauthorize Proton account … now appears only when PDrive has detected
  that the configured account requires reauthorization. It stays unavailable
  during a Proton login rate-limit cooldown.
• The Operations and Troubleshooting documentation and the healthy-state menu
  screenshot now match the contextual action.
