Kiyi 0.6.0
Kiyi 0.6.0 finds messy data and helps you fix it, keeps your charts side by side on dashboards, and lets you edit a query's result in place. If you already have Kiyi, it updates itself and asks before restarting.
New
Data quality. Every table has a new Quality tab, and Check data on the Overview checks the whole database. Kiyi points out:
- duplicate and copied rows,
- one value spelled several ways ("Istanbul", "istanbul ", "İstanbul"),
- stray spaces and empty text,
- invalid emails, outliers and negative amounts,
- dates in the future or far in the past,
- columns that are never filled.
Each finding says how many rows it touches. Most come with a fix, like "Use 'Istanbul' everywhere" or "Trim the spaces", that shows its SQL first and runs in one transaction. Show the rows opens the table filtered to the rows behind a finding. The check only reads: up to 50,000 rows per table, on your computer.
Try it on the sample database (welcome screen → Try the sample database), which has a little mess in it on purpose.
Dashboards. In the SQL editor, switch a result to Chart and choose Add to dashboard. A dashboard keeps several charts side by side:
- Charts re-run when the dashboard opens, on Refresh, or every few minutes while it's on screen.
- Make a chart full width, move it, or open its SQL.
- Dashboard queries can only read, so refreshing never changes data.
- Dashboards travel with exported connections.
Edit query results. When a query reads one table and shows its key, for example SELECT id, name, email FROM customers WHERE country = 'Germany', its result can be edited like the table itself:
- Changed cells are highlighted, and the status bar shows Discard and Save.
- Save updates each row by its key. On production, the UPDATE statements are shown for review first.
- Joins, groupings, DISTINCT, computed and binary columns stay read-only.
Fixed
- Your work, kept: a change made just before the window closed or reloaded is no longer lost. Before, the older copy in Kiyi's folder could win on the next start, dropping a new dashboard or an open query tab.
- Data quality: a value with a trailing space is reported once, as extra spaces, not also as a second spelling.

Kiyi 0.5.0
Kiyi 0.5.0 turns saved queries into reusable reports, connects to hosted databases in one step, and keeps your own work safe. If you already have Kiyi, it updates itself and asks before restarting.
New
Query parameters. Write :customer_id (or any :name) in a query. When it runs, Kiyi asks for the value:
- Numbers go in as numbers; anything else is quoted safely for your database. You can also choose NULL.
- Values are remembered while the tab is open.
So a saved query like "orders of :customer_id since :since" becomes a report you can run again and again.
Hosted databases. Kiyi recognises Supabase, Neon, PlanetScale, Amazon RDS, Azure SQL, Azure Database for PostgreSQL and MySQL, DigitalOcean, Railway, Render and Aiven from their address:
- SSL is turned on where the provider requires it, so a pasted connection string just works.
- The connection window tells you where to find the details in the provider's dashboard, with tips like Supabase's IPv4 pooler.
- The welcome screen has a shortcut for each provider.
Your work is kept safe. Query history, saved queries, table views and column layouts, open query tabs and settings now live as files in Kiyi's folder. Clearing the app's web storage no longer loses them, and existing data moves over by itself on first launch.
Saved queries and views travel with your connections. Export connections on one computer and import them on another: their saved queries and table views come along, matched to the new connections. Query history stays behind, because it can hold values from your data.
Turn history off. Settings → General → Query history, for queries that contain sensitive values.
Fixed
- Narrow windows: the table toolbar, Move data and the Overview wrap onto a second line. Before, Insert row, Columns, Views and Save plan could end up out of reach.
- Welcome screen: the list of databases found on this computer no longer collapses when the window is short.
- Sidebar: tables created, renamed or dropped in the SQL editor appear right away.
- SQL autocomplete: it suggests only words that start with what you typed.
- Objects: MySQL's own internal accounts are no longer listed among users.
- Screen readers: every field in the row panel has a name they can read out.
- Wording: "1 rows" now reads "1 row".
Under the hood
The interface is now clicked through on every change: 16 flows against real databases, in a 920×560 window too. They already caught a crash in the SQL editor before it reached anyone.
