ReaUI Builder 2.2.0

A Knob widget, round buttons, and a cleaner canvas for dense layouts. The full list of changes is in CHANGELOG.md.

Highlights

  • Knob. A round dial in Sliders & Drags. In REAPER you drag it up and down (Shift for fine steps), use the mouse wheel, double-click to return to the default, or Ctrl+click to type a value; the value shows in a tooltip. Set min, max, default and a display format. The colours follow the theme, and the knob stays round in any box.
  • Round Button. One option makes a Button fully round: a circle when it is square, a pill when it is wider.
  • Thin, steady outlines. Editor outlines are 1 screen pixel at any zoom and opaque for every widget; the selected widget has a heavier frame.
  • Less clutter. Names are drawn only where they fit, and the widget under the pointer shows its outline and name. Container labels hide while their children cover them, and a container's lock shows when you point at it, select it, or hold U.

Compatibility

  • The exported scripts need REAPER with ReaImGui 0.10 or later, as before.
  • A 2.1.0 project exports byte for byte as before. Only a Knob or a round Button adds new lines.
  • A project with a Knob needs 2.2.0 or later. The round option is ignored by older builds.
  • The user manual, in English and Russian, is updated for 2.2.0.

ReaUI Builder 2.1.0

Tables that stretch, a custom Checkbox, and a Russian interface. The full list of changes is in CHANGELOG.md.

Highlights

  • Tables that stretch. A Table can follow the window in width and height (Left+Right, Top+Bottom). Fixed columns and rows keep their size and the others share the change; what is inside a cell follows its cell. Rows can keep their authored height for lists filled from data, with an optional background colour per row, a row highlight your script switches on at runtime, and cell padding. Cells are laid out as ImGui lays them out, so content sits in REAPER where the canvas shows it, and wrapped text stays inside its column.
  • Custom Checkbox. Any size from 6 to 64 px, a border, colours for the fill, mark and border, a tick or a filled square, and a click area: the square, a wider area, or the whole table row. A checkbox in a table cell can highlight its row while it is checked.
  • Text input frame border. InputText, InputTextWithHint and InputTextMultiline get a border with a thickness from 0.5 to 8 px and a colour.
  • Style region. It draws nothing in REAPER and no longer reserves a header strip: children sit right under its top edge, and other objects may overlap it. It also has frame padding.
  • Russian interface. File › Language ▸ English / Русский switches the editor live and remembers the choice in the browser. Help › User Manual opens the manual in the same language.
  • Preflight and Preview. New information lines for rows taller than planned, Style region frame padding and checkbox options outside a table cell. Preview clips a scrolling table to its box.

Compatibility

  • The exported scripts need REAPER with ReaImGui 0.10 or later, as before.
  • A 2.0.0 project without a Table exports as before, with one exception: a control with an empty label placed in the top 12 px of the window is now exported. A project with a Table exports with the new cell layout; column widths do not change.
  • Projects open with their tables' cells laid out again; a child that no longer fits a narrower cell is moved inside it.
  • A project saved with the new settings opens in older builds without them: the new project keys are ignored.
  • The user manual, in English and Russian, is updated for 2.1.0.

ReaUI Builder 2.0.0

Resizable windows with stretch constraints, and Theme Studio. The full list of changes is in CHANGELOG.md.

Highlights

  • Resizable window. Turn it on in the Canvas tab, with an optional minimum and maximum size. The exported window opens at the design size the first time and reopens at the size the user left it.
  • Constraints. Pin an object to the right or bottom edge, keep it centred, or stretch it (Left+Right, Top+Bottom) with a 3 × 3 preset grid and two rows in Properties. Everything inside a pinned container moves with it. Buttons, fields, panels, tab bars and other controls with a size Builder sets can stretch, and so can rectangle and text drawings. The canvas shows each object's constraints as dashed lines to its parent's edges, as Figma does.
  • Preview at any size. In Preview, drag the frame's edge or corner to see the layout at another window size; double-click returns to the design size. Preflight reports the exact window sizes at which widgets would overlap, leave their container or get too small.
  • Theme Studio. View › Theme Studio… opens a window for the colours of the exported interface. Choose one of fifty ready-made palettes (Collection, Dark or Light), or edit a theme with four base colours (Basic) or all fifteen (Full). A sample plugin window shows the result; Apply puts it into the project in one Undo step, Save and Save as… keep it in My themes, Export… writes a theme file.
  • Light first launch. The editor opens in the light theme and a new project starts on the Light preset. The start dialog appears on the first launch only.
  • Editor comfort. A hint for every setting (View › Show hints), text editing on the canvas (double-click a text, rectangle or circle), a multi-line label field, and a right sidebar with Canvas | Properties on top and Elements below.
  • Checks from an independent audit. Save Project applies the field you are typing in. A Preflight finding opens its tabs and centres the object. Text inside a disabled StyleRegion dims with the widgets. A filled polygon that crosses itself is a Preflight error, and a polygon with a repeated corner is filled correctly.

Compatibility

  • The exported scripts need REAPER with ReaImGui 0.10 or later, as before.
  • Projects without "Resizable window" export as in 1.6.0. The exceptions are text and lines inside a disabled StyleRegion and filled polygons with a repeated corner.
  • A new project starts on the Light theme; existing projects keep theirs.
  • A project saved with a resizable window or constraints opens in older builds as a fixed-window project, with the stretch removed.
  • The user manual, in English and Russian, is updated for 2.0.0.

ReaUI Builder 1.6.0

The first update since 1.0.70. It rolls up everything built since then (1.0.72 – 1.6.0); the full list is in CHANGELOG.md.

Highlights

  • Basic Mode. A simpler view of the same builder: eleven common components, plain-language properties, Add → Canvas → Layers → Properties. Switch any time with View › Interface mode; the project and the exported Lua stay the same. A startup dialog asks for the mode and whether to start new, open or restore a project.
  • Menu bar. Build the window's menu bar in the Canvas tab: menus, items, check items, separators and submenus. Items export as -- TODO markers like buttons; check items keep their state in state.<name>_checked.
  • Themes. Title bar in ImGui or theme colours, translucent accent headers in Slate and Light, theme alpha, and theme files (import / export).
  • New widgets. InvisibleButton, CheckboxFlags, TextLink, PlotLines / PlotHistogram, a "+" tab button on tab bars, disabled StyleRegion, TreeNode guide lines, Selectable Highlight.
  • Tables. Angled headers, frozen header row, "scroll rows" filled by your script, and row heights measured by ReaImGui at runtime.
  • Text. Primitive labels and Text are laid out by ReaImGui at runtime; Preview breaks lines much closer to REAPER.
  • Editor. Tooltips on every setting in the Selection panel; a click on a tab's label selects the tab; click to place a rectangle or circle; rectangle and circle labels.
  • Fixes. Arc export now matches Preview (pies over 180°, angles across 0°, full turns), and several cases that could leave a project unable to reopen are fixed (deleting a tab with "Keep inner widgets", copying a table cell, extreme RadioButton values).

Compatibility

  • The exported scripts need REAPER with ReaImGui 0.10 or later, as before.
  • Projects from 1.0.70 open as they are. Most export unchanged; the differences (theme header colours, arcs, text layout, table rows, ListBox escapes) are listed in the CHANGELOG.
  • The manuals still describe 1.0.70.

ReaUI Builder v1.0.70 — first public release

A visual layout editor for ReaImGui interfaces in REAPER. Draw the window on
a canvas, place and nest controls, and export a runnable Lua script — no
build step, no installation, just one HTML file you open in a browser.

I built this because hand-writing ReaImGui layouts — spacing, sizing rules,
nesting containers, keeping coordinates in sync with the code — got old fast.
This does the layout part; you still write what the interface does.

What's inside

  • 41 widget families, 50 concrete types (buttons, sliders, fields, tables,
tabs, collapsible sections, color pickers, and more)
  • Drawing layer for section borders, backgrounds, scales — separate from
the widgets, doesn't interfere with layout
  • Absolute canvas coordinates, with automatic flow layout inside table cells
  • Multi-select, batch property editing, copy/paste, undo/redo
  • Grid + snapping, 50–250% zoom
  • Built-in and custom themes, with scoped style/font overrides
  • A Preview mode that approximates the exported result
  • Export preflight: catches invalid geometry, broken parent links, and
flags anything that'll be omitted or clipped, before you copy the code

Get it

Download ReaUI_Builder.html, open it in Chrome, Edge, Firefox, or Safari.
That's the whole install. Works offline — no network connection needed to
use it.

Requires REAPER + ReaImGui 0.10 or later (via ReaPack) to run the exported
script.

Known limitations (this build)

  • Preview is approximate for Group, Table, ColorPicker, and TextWrapped
  • Combo/ListBox export with placeholder items — swap in your own list
  • No separate theme import/export yet — themes live inside the project file

MIT licensed. Manual (RU/EN) linked in the README. Bug reports welcome —
there's a built-in report tool under Help that puts one together for you.
