Parley v0.32.1

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 02 Oct 08:47

Opening a recording no longer starts the analysis over, and ending a meeting goes straight to its report.

Analysis runs once per recording. Opening a recording you had already looked at, especially one recorded on the phone, used to start the analysis again.

  • Leaving early keeps the work. A pass that finishes after you have moved to another recording is saved to the one it was running for. Coming back while it is still running picks it up instead of starting a second one.
  • The meeting type is remembered, so it is no longer re-detected on every open.
  • An empty brief is reported as a failure you can regenerate, instead of being treated as missing and generated again on every open.

Ending a meeting

  • The window changes layout once. After End, the coach keeps its three columns until the report opens, instead of squeezing in the sidebar for the whole save. ⌘B still shows the sidebar during a long save.
  • The report opens as soon as the recording is written. Speaker correction runs in the background, and the analysis waits for it, so it reads the corrected speakers the first time.

Reading a recording

  • Sections load as placeholders shaped like their content, so the page no longer jumps when the brief, action items, delivery or findings arrive.
  • The titlebar shows where the recording lives, as folder › name. Clicking the folder takes you back to it, replacing the close-recording button.

Cloud sync

  • Recordings deleted on another device stay deleted. They used to be uploaded again, audio included, every couple of minutes. A recording synced from this computer is now removed here too; one that never reached the cloud is kept.
  • Recordings inside a folder list newest first.

Tapping Start recording starts recording right away.

  • No consent prompt before recording. The "everyone has agreed?" confirmation is gone. As with any recorder, getting the consent of the people in the room, as the law where you are requires, is up to you.
  • The onboarding line and store copy that described the prompt are removed too.

When something goes wrong, Parley asks whether to tell us.

  • One-tap problem reports when the app sees a failure: an empty or cut-short transcript, a recording that keeps failing to sync, a microphone that kept dropping. Reports carry diagnostics only, never recordings or transcripts.
  • Report the screen you just screenshotted (Android 14 and later), or use Report a problem in the Account sheet.
  • Crash reports are sent automatically. Turn that off under Feedback & diagnostics.

A rebuilt recording page, a better player, and a guided first lap.

  • Summary and Transcript. The recording page shows the desktop's brief, highlights and action items, iOS speaker names, and every timestamp jumps to its line.
  • The player scrubs finely when you drag away from it, remembers your playback speed, and holding either edge of the transcript plays at 2×.
  • Download audio from the Library, and see at a glance which recordings are on the phone.
  • A dropped connection mid-meeting says it is reconnecting, and running out of quota says so, instead of looking like the recording stopped.
  • Onboarding v2. An intro film on sign-in and a guided lap through the sample recording, ending with a done card.
  • What's New after an update, a fuller Account sheet, and a themed icon.

Parley now teaches itself, and Windows hears the other side of the call.

First run is a guided lap, not a settings form. The wizard is down to four steps and cannot end without working transcription: sign in for the hosted models (free within a monthly allowance) or bring a transcription key; the mock transcript that used to play when nothing was configured is gone from release builds. The first page shows the app assembling itself — recording pill, a typed transcript with speaker names, a folder receiving the meeting, the MCP plug lighting up — one caption per beat.

  • A sample call to walk through. A two-minute first sales call (zh-TW and en) loads as a real recording, already transcribed, already analysed, with a title and a folder proposed. A guide bar at the bottom of the report walks three steps — accept the suggestion, click a line in Replay, hand the recording to your AI — ticking each one from the thing you actually did, then closes with "Start your first real meeting".
  • Hand off to your AI. The report ends with a section that connects Claude Code over MCP (command, Claude Desktop config, live connection status, three questions to ask) and, for everyone else, copies the transcript with an analysis prompt or the report as markdown. The transcript copy menu gains "With analysis prompt" as its first item.
  • The filing card does more. "Accept suggestion" renames and files in one click, the title is editable in place, and "Choose another folder…" opens the picker. Home keeps a small getting-started index until the lap is done; existing users never see it.
  • Small fixes found along the way: the report no longer claims it needs a model key above a brief that already exists, the stale "drag cards into this folder" hint is gone, ingest errors are translated, and the MCP settings text describes what MCP can actually do.

Windows

  • The other side of the call is recorded through WASAPI loopback, so Windows meetings get both speakers like macOS.
  • Hold right Ctrl or right Alt to dictate, via a low-level keyboard hook.
  • Corrections are learned through UI Automation, so the personal dictionary improves from what you fix in other apps.
  • Closing the window hides Parley to the notification area, and Settings gains a Caches block.

Also: titlebar pill, meeting-kind trigger and sidebar counts realigned after the re-skin.

Chinese transcripts always read in Traditional Chinese.

  • Traditional Chinese everywhere. Re-transcribed recordings no longer turn Simplified, and older recordings open in Traditional too.
  • More room for the live transcript. Drag the recording controls down while recording.
  • Swipe between folders on empty space in the Library.
  • Fixed the sample transcript overlapping the controls.

Your first lap shows you what Parley does, and recordings file themselves.

  • Getting started. Load the bundled sample call and a checklist walks you through filing it, replaying it and sharing it to your AI with a ready-made prompt.
  • Filing suggestions. When a recording stops, Parley proposes a title and a folder.
  • Folders and organizations in the Library, with a default save location.
  • Imports report transcription failures and sync once the network or the app comes back.
  • Speech during a reconnect is no longer lost, and the live screen shows what the microphone is doing.

Meetings recorded on Android transcribe again. 1.13 recorded audio but returned an empty transcript.

  • The microphone no longer restarts itself in a loop. 1.13 rebuilt the recording every ~350 ms for the whole meeting, so the transcription service got fragments with gaps between them.
  • Recording no longer locks onto a Bluetooth input that delivers silence. The built-in microphone is preferred unless a headset can actually capture.

The recordings library opens quickly again, however many recordings you have.

With a large library, opening the library, switching back to Parley, or typing in the search box could freeze the app for a moment, and the pause grew with every recording you added. With cloud sync on, a library of a thousand recordings stalled for about half a second each time, and a few thousand for several seconds.

  • Checking which recordings are synced no longer slows down as the library grows. It used to re-read the whole sync record once for every recording. It now reads it once per listing.
  • Listing recordings no longer freezes the other windows. Voice typing and settings stay responsive while the library loads.
  • Long lists show the first recordings straight away. Rows are added in batches as you scroll, instead of all being built before anything appears. The count at the top still shows the total.

Voice typing no longer mixes one dictation into the next.

If you started a new dictation within a second or two of finishing the last one, the overlay could briefly show the previous dictation's words, and they could be pasted a second time along with the new ones. This happened because the end of the previous dictation was still arriving while the next one began, and nothing told the two apart.

  • Each dictation now only shows and pastes its own words. Anything that arrives late from the previous one is dropped.
  • A dictation where you say nothing pastes nothing, instead of the previous dictation's text.
  • Stopping still keeps your last words. The end of the current dictation is still waited for before pasting.

The iOS changes in this range shipped separately as iOS 1.19.
