MiniCam 0.1.0

MiniCam 0.1.0 is the first stable release of the native macOS viewer for a
single Hikvision-compatible IP camera.

Highlights

  • Low-latency live video and microSD archive playback on one timeline.
  • Calendar navigation, precise seeking, pause, and 10/30-second steps.
  • Local people and vehicle motion events with thumbnails and click-to-seek.
  • PNG snapshots and MP4 archive export up to 30 minutes.
  • Adjustable player interface text at 1×, 1.5×, or 2× scale.
  • Russian dates, calendar labels, and 24-hour time throughout the player.
  • Persistent custom scrollbar and preserved position in the motion-events panel.

Apple Silicon archive playback

Archive playback on Apple Silicon now uses RTSP over TCP. Its frame policy
prevents reverse image jumps and reduced late-frame freezes in the verified
camera run. Live playback is unchanged.

Intel Macs keep the legacy archive playback path. The Universal build launches
under Rosetta, but archive freezes and jumps seen there may also occur on Intel;
a physical Intel Mac remains the authoritative compatibility test.

Download MiniCam-0.1.0-macos-universal.zip. The application is ad-hoc signed
but not notarized. Follow the first-launch instructions in the README to approve
MiniCam through macOS Privacy & Security without disabling Gatekeeper.

Use SHA256SUMS.txt to verify the downloaded archive if desired.

Verified configuration

  • Universal arm64 and x86_64 MiniCam, VLCKit, and FFmpeg binaries.
  • Native Apple Silicon playback and Rosetta launch.
  • macOS Monterey 12 minimum deployment target.
  • Hikvision DS-2CD2043G2-IU, channel 1, continuous H.264 recording to microSD.

Known limitations

  • One camera and local-network access only.
  • No Apple notarization.
  • Other RTSP clients can exhaust the camera's session limit and cause error
    453 Not Enough Bandwidth, black video, or a failed export.
  • Archive export may proceed close to real time.
  • Motion analysis processes only archive data created while MiniCam is running.
