Installation
EasyPDM is installed once — on a single computer in the company (an ordinary computer that's simply left switched on works fine, it doesn't need to be a dedicated server). Everyone else connects to it with a regular web browser, at an address visible only inside your company network.
If EasyPDM is already running at your company, just ask whoever installed it for the
address (something like http://192.168.1.20:5000) and skip to
First login below.
No IT knowledge required:
- Go to the Releases page and download
the latest
EasyPDM_Windows_v<version>.exe. - Run it — the installation wizard walks you through the rest and leaves a shortcut on your desktop.
- The only thing it might ask about is whether PostgreSQL (the database EasyPDM stores its data in) is already installed — if not, it points you to where to get it before continuing.
Running the installer on a machine that already has an older EasyPDM updates it in place rather than installing a second copy beside it: it recognizes the existing install, keeps your data and reuses the stored database password without asking again. Installing an older version over a newer one is refused instead of silently downgrading the database.
Some comfort with a terminal is enough. Pick one:
git clone https://github.com/pawelcel/EasyPDM.git
cd EasyPDM
./install-easypdm-docker.shDownload the ready-made EasyPDM-Linux-x64_v<version>.tar.gz package from the
Releases page, or clone the repo
yourself, then:
tar xzf EasyPDM-Linux-x64_v<version>.tar.gz && cd EasyPDM-Linux-x64_v<version>
sudo ./install-easypdm-linux.shThis installs PostgreSQL (if missing) and EasyPDM itself as a systemd service that
starts automatically with the machine.
EasyPDM ends up reachable at http://localhost:5000 (or the machine's address on your
network, from another computer).
For upgrading an existing install, uninstalling, changing the storage location, backup
configuration, or running EasyPDM as a developer (without the installer), see
TECHNICAL.md in the
repository — it covers all three install paths in full detail.
Username admin, password admin — change this password right after logging in
(Settings → Users → find the admin account → change password).
A brand new, empty database also gets one sample project on first startup — something to explore instead of a blank slate. A notification points it out and reminds you to clear it (Settings → File storage → Danger zone) before real use.
After logging in: pick a project (or create a new one, if you have permission), then install the macro for your CAD program — see CAD Integrations.
