• Share only part of your library. Tick the folders each person should hear, and
  everything else disappears for them. It applies while they are listening, and
  widening it back brings their favourites with it.
• Sign out every other browser, from the dashboard.

• A device whose access was removed now says so, instead of looking like a network
  problem. It remembers while offline, stops retrying and reconnects by itself if you
  let it back in.

Bug Fixes

• Music now pauses when your Bluetooth car or headset disconnects, or when you unplug wired headphones, instead of sometimes carrying on through the phone's speaker.
• Your queue no longer disappears after a pause. If the connection to your library drops while the phone is locked, the queue is kept and comes back as soon as the library is reachable again.
• Tapping Shuffle on an artist now really shuffles from the first song, so the list no longer runs out after a few tracks.

What's Changed

Improvements
- The on/off controls in Settings are now proper switches. You can see what is
on at a glance from the position, instead of reading a word.
- Those switches now tell screen readers which setting they control, rather
than just saying "on" or "off".
- On iPhone and iPad, the request to use your local network now explains why
PearTune is asking. It connects straight to your library across your wifi
instead of taking the long way round.

Fixes
- Songs in .ogg format now play on iPhone and iPad. Before, they appeared in
your library and tapping one left the player sitting there in silence, with
nothing to explain why.
- A library served from a Mac, Windows or Linux computer can now play formats
your phone does not understand, such as .wma and .ogg. Those tracks used to
be silent. There is nothing extra to install - it is built in now.
- On a Mac, choosing "Update now" takes effect straight away. The update used
to install correctly while your library quietly kept running the old version
until you restarted the computer.
- The "Recently added row" switch in Settings now gives the same small buzz as
the other switches when you tap it.

PearTune 1.0.0

Your music collection, playable anywhere — without exposing your server to the internet.

PearTune plays music straight off a computer you own: an Umbrel, a NAS, an old desktop.
Your phone reaches it directly over an encrypted connection. No port forwarding, no VPN,
no dynamic DNS, no account, and no copy of your files on anyone else's server.

And that machine doesn't have to be yours. If a friend or family member lets you into
theirs, their library just appears in your app — no login handed out, nothing copied.

Getting started

1. Install the host on the machine with your music (macOS, Windows, Linux, Umbrel or Docker).
2. Open the dashboard and point it at your music.
3. Scan the QR code with the app on your phone. That's the setup.

What you can do

Play your library from anywhere. Browse by artist, album, genre or track with artwork,
search everything, and play with gapless playback, shuffle, repeat and a sleep timer. Audio
keeps going in the background and on the lock screen.

Let people in, and cut them off. Give access per person and per device — your phone,
your tablet, a friend. Revoke any one of them without disturbing the others, and it takes
effect immediately, even mid-song. Guest passes expire on their own after a time you set,
with a countdown shown to the guest, so lending your library for a weekend doesn't depend
on you remembering.

Take music with you. Pin an album to keep it on your phone for a flight or a tunnel.

Pick up where you left off. Favourites and resume points follow you between your own
devices — a track paused on one is where you left it on another. Starting playback on a
second device pauses the first rather than playing twice.

Playlists, both the ones you make on your phone and the read-only ones your server
already has.

Ask for music you can't find. Anyone you've let in can request something, and the
owner works through the queue in the app.

More than one library at once. If you're let into several, they blend into one.

Manage it from your phone. An owner can see every device, pair a new one and revoke
any of them without opening the dashboard.

Your music, wherever it already lives

Point the host at an existing Navidrome (or any Subsonic-compatible) server, an
existing Jellyfin server, or just a plain folder of music files — PearTune reads
the tags itself, so a folder is a real library with artists, albums, years and cover art,
not a list of filenames.

Staying connected

Most of the time your phone talks straight to your host. Some mobile carriers and locked-down
wifi refuse a direct connection, and PearTune then falls back to a relay run by PeerLoom. The
relay only passes along traffic that's already encrypted — it can see that your device is
talking to your host and how much data moves, never what's in it, and it keeps no copy. It's
on by default and you can turn it off in Settings → Connection.

Keeping it running

On Linux and Windows, the host installs as a proper background service: your library
keeps serving after you log out, and starts again by itself when the machine reboots. On
macOS it runs while you're signed in.

PearTune also tells you when a new version is out, and can update itself with one click.

The macOS app is signed and notarized by Apple, so it opens normally.

Windows will show a warning. The Windows installer isn't signed with a certificate yet,
so SmartScreen says "unknown publisher" — choose More info → Run anyway. It also asks for
administrator rights, because it sets PearTune up as a background service.

Good to know

• The phone apps aren't in the app stores yet. iOS is with App Review; on Android, install
  the .apk above or get it on Zapstore.dev
• On Linux, the .deb sets up the background service for you. The AppImage runs when you log
  in instead — run peartune-desktop --install-service once if you'd rather it always run.
