Somnia v12.2.0
Built from the green full-matrix CI run on 8149799: https://github.com/philppplik/somnia/actions/runs/39394661454 . The custom installer was built by the Windows installer workflow on the same commit: https://github.com/philppplik/somnia/actions/runs/39394622086 .
Highlights
- First stable release of the 12.2 line. It carries everything tested through the 12.2.0 betas (see the beta.1 to beta.10 release notes for the full list).
- Custom Windows setup (Somnia-Setup-preview-unsigned.exe): a branded setup that hands the install over to the app. It stays an unsigned preview extra; Windows SmartScreen will warn. The regular x64/ARM64 setup.exe and MSI files are the recommended install path.
Fixes
- Installer: a quoted install folder path is accepted. The suspected cause of the earlier folder bug is a hypothesis, not confirmed on a real machine.
- Installer: the window background now fills the whole window (no white frame). Seen only in a render at 836x640, not on real Windows.
- Tests: studio shell screenshot baselines regenerated in CI.
Known issues
- Interactive Windows/macOS launch and real-device feel tests remain unverified. Rust code was verified in CI only.
- macOS is Apple Silicon only, ad-hoc signed and not notarized: Gatekeeper may require System Settings > Privacy & Security > Open Anyway. Do not disable Gatekeeper.
- The custom installer is an unsigned preview.
- Collaboration remains alpha; LAN, relay, updater installs and real provider/model quality are not certified by offline tests.
- This release does not replace the Microsoft Store package and ships no MSIX asset. No Store submission was made.
Install
- Windows: setup.exe/MSI (x64 and ARM64), or the unsigned preview Somnia-Setup-preview-unsigned.exe. Linux: AppImage/DEB (amd64 and arm64). macOS: DMG (Apple Silicon), copy to Applications and follow the security exception above if offered.
Checksums
- SHA256SUMS.txt lists installer and archive hashes. macos-verification.txt records signature and image checks from CI.
