Troubleshooting

"Claim topic" is not in Quick-mod tools

  • Check the moderator has Can claim topics and see claims (moderator permissions, Misc tab) in that forum, or as a global moderator. See Settings and permissions.
  • Founders and administrators need the moderator permission too.
  • Log out and in again after changing permissions, and purge the board cache (ACP → General → Purge the cache).

A moderator cannot be chosen in "Transfer to"

The list only has active users who can claim topics in that topic's forum, globally or in the forum itself. Give them the moderator permission there.

Administrators cannot take over a claim

They need Can take over, transfer and release other moderators' topic claims (administrator permissions, Misc tab) and the moderator permission in the topic's forum.

A claim went away on its own

Check ACP → Extensions → Topic Claim → Settings: the board may release claims on locked topics or after a number of days. The moderator log says why: on locked topic or after the board's time limit. Claims also go away when the topic or the moderator's account is deleted. See Claiming topics.

A claim was not released after the set number of days

The check runs about once an hour, when phpBB runs its scheduled tasks. On a board with few visitors this happens less often. Running phpBB's cron from the server fixes this: see System cron in phpBB's documentation.

The icon does not show

The icon setting must be a Font Awesome class that exists in the board's Font Awesome version (version 4 on phpBB 3.3), for example fa-eye. An empty or invalid value falls back to fa-eye.
