PickForge v0.2.1

PickForge IDE was retired on September 3, 2026. This is its final release.

  • The updater now checks the archived pickforge/pickforge-ide repository, so it can never consume update metadata published by the successor product at the old repository path.
  • The app shows a one-time retirement notice with links to the new Pickforge and the archived IDE repository.

Existing installs keep working offline. There will be no further updates.

PickForge v0.2.0

Pi native chat is now enabled by default after compatibility testing through Pi 0.81 and hands-on verification of streaming, cancellation, and history-preserving resume across an app restart. Pi and OMP now have independent rollout controls, so OMP stays opt-in while its ACP integration accepts the re-certified 17.x range.

PickForge now fails fast with an actionable error instead of silently creating its database in the launch directory when the home directory cannot be resolved (#237). Remote host settings now show paired clients, pairing dates, and revoked status, with controls to revoke active clients (#241).

This release also adds section-based Settings navigation, automatic chat titles, Linux graphics compatibility controls, single-instance window focus, titlebar double-click maximize, graceful owned-process shutdown, Linux graphical sudo helper propagation, and explicit cleanup for legacy dtach/tmux sessions.

Release hardening includes pi-kit detection in connector diagnostics, correct model restoration for resumed native chats (#272), OMP 17.x compatibility re-certification, and an atomic fake-Pi PID fixture that removes a teardown flake. CI now enforces complexity, dependency-audit, secrets, and coverage gates. The shared updater dialog and local crash containment are included behind default-off rollout flags.

What's new

  • Section-based Settings navigation — a category sidebar with remembered last category, direct section links, keyboard navigation, and layouts that adapt to narrow windows.
  • Automatic chat titles — chats are titled from your first prompt and refreshed at meaningful milestones. Renaming a chat locks its title until you choose "Resume automatic titles"; manual titles survive restarts.
  • Double-clicking empty titlebar space now maximizes or restores the window.
  • Launching PickForge again now focuses the running window instead of opening a duplicate.
  • On normal app exit, PickForge gracefully stops its supported owned agent, terminal, emulator, mirror, and device-log managers, and interrupts active agent turns so persisted chats return to idle.

Internal and release work

This release also carries a large amount of internal groundwork (remote projects, operator tooling, accounts, settings sync, and additional agent integrations) that is not enabled in this version, plus release-pipeline reliability work: migrated release CI to shared tooling with Rust caching, semantic agent-protocol drift checks, and stabilized visual-regression capture.

Highlights

  • Fixed the white/blank window on distros with recent Mesa/Wayland (Arch, CachyOS, Fedora): the AppImage no longer bundles the build host's libwayland, which crashed WebKit's EGL setup (#122).
  • Release builds now send anonymous crash and error reports by default, with a Settings → Crash reports opt-out that applies after restart.

Installer improvements

  • Linux curl installs now use a rootless AppImage wrapper that falls back when FUSE is missing, inaccessible, or likely restricted by WSL/container hosts.
  • Linux curl installs can opt into native .deb/.rpm release packages with PICKFORGE_INSTALL_KIND=deb or PICKFORGE_INSTALL_KIND=rpm.
  • AppImage installs now add the launcher icon, refresh desktop search/menu caches, and disable known stale PickForge launchers in the app menu.
  • Linux curl installs no longer execute the downloaded AppImage during install just to populate the app menu icon.

Internal

  • Added Sentry native crash reporting, global telemetry consent storage, and release CI uploads for native debug files and frontend sourcemaps.
  • Linux release CI now publishes AppImage, .deb, and .rpm artifacts, and repairs the uploaded AppImage after the build: strips bundled libwayland-*, repacks, re-signs, and patches latest.json.
  • Native Linux packages now install the pickforge command name.
  • App chrome CSS now comes from @pickforge/brand 0.2.1.
  • Added installer smoke tests (AppImage desktop integration, stale launcher cleanup, native .deb selection, zypper .rpm installs); they now run in CI.
