Version 3.0.0
Say hello to v3.0.0. This is a cleanup, bugfix and security push, aiming to sharpen what we have without adding any additional features.
Nonetheless plenty has changed under the hood and you should upgrade asap!
Security - the config UI now refuses requests from other web pages. Before this, any page open in your browser could reach it on 127.0.0.1 and ask statsbadge to install an extension.
Badge - no more freezes while the badge looks for a host that has disappeared. It also reconnects immediately after the host restarts. A short session no longer leaves the badge reusing request numbers after a reboot (the "resynced" banner). The trend page no longer prints raw numbers like 1234567.0.
Apple Silicon - CPU, SSD and battery temperatures 🌡️, with no sudo needed. With powermetrics set up, the CPU and GPU clocks, GPU power and package power now read correctly: the GPU clock used to read 0MHz, and GPU power was out by a factor of about a thousand (though I yearn for a 4MHz Mac, I'm not going to work on one). The CPU clock no longer reads nonsense values without powermetrics.
Extensions - an extension's gauges fill up properly: a quake's magnitude has a top end. Each extension gets its own directory on the badge so two extensions can ship a file with the same name. Failures when an extension fetches data no longer bring down every other fetch with ambiguous errors. A stale Cloudflare token, for example, now shows up in Sources.
Clock - with no location configured the clock now uses the badge's location from General Settings. Pages configured with clocks in several cities work as before.
Config UI - shows the version beside the title (I kept looking for this, and feeling its absence). A setting stored outside a slider's range shows as is, instead of being clamped when you touch the slider. Notification pages keep six lines, as intended.
Fixes - on Windows, a second tray no longer starts and splits connections with the first. statsbadge autostart --port 9000 enable keeps the port. With two badges plugged in, an update can no longer write one badge's credentials to the other.
For extension authors
Extensions need changes for 3.0.0:
- Register badge pages with
pages.register(kind, render, api=1, animated=False). statsbadge/badge_api.pylists what a badge module may use from the app. Find your assets beside your module's__file__(they now live inext/<name>/), not throughlook.APP_DIR.PollingSourcegives you the fetch thread, andstatsbadge.sources.webhandles HTTP with readable errors.- Settings arrive typed and defaulted as declared.
note_fault(exc, key=...)keeps a fault for each part of your source's work. .github/workflows/extension.ymlandextension-build.ymlare reusable, and statsbadge's lint rules now apply to extensions.

Quakes v2.0.0
Quakes v2.0.0
For statsbadge 3.0.0. You should upgrade to firmware 3.1.0 or greater on Tufty - https://github.com/pimoroni/tufty2350/releases/tag/v3.1.1
Magnitude gauges now fill: statsbadge passes a quake's full scale of 9 through to the badge, giving you a juicy magnitude scale where before a dial or ring showing magnitude was empty. The USGS feed is requested with a proper User-Agent, and "How many" is capped at 20 in its settings rather than quietly afterwards.
Update the badge after upgrading (Update badge in the config UI, or statsbadge install): the map now registers with the new app from the plugin's directory on the badge.

ISS v2.0.0
ISS v2.0.0
For statsbadge 3.0.0. You should also upgrade to firmware 3.1.0 or greater on Tufty - https://github.com/pimoroni/tufty2350/releases/tag/v3.1.1
The position, ground track and crew are now fetched and reported separately, so a failing crew feed shows up in Sources instead of being masked by a working position request. Every request is made with a proper User-Agent.
Update the badge after upgrading (Update badge in the config UI, or statsbadge install): the map now registers with the new app from the plugin's directory on the badge.

Clock v2.0.0
Clock v2.0.0
For statsbadge 3.0.0. Requires firmware 3.1.0 or greater on Tufty - https://github.com/pimoroni/tufty2350/releases/tag/v3.1.1
Each hand is now drawn as one combined shape, a little quicker to draw. With no location configured the clock now uses the badge's location from General Settings. Locations are looked up through the shared lookup cache. Clocks in several cities work as before, one location per page. The weather feed is requested with a proper User-Agent, and a problem with one page's location is no longer masked behind another working request.
Update the badge after upgrading (Update badge in the config UI, or statsbadge install): the clock's fonts now live in the plugin's directory on the badge.

Version 2.3.0
Clock - a shiny new "Amsterdam" face: navy oval marks over a dotted minute track, stop-to-go second hand (60 steps in 57s, sinusoidal speed, waits at twelve), hands spring on the minute. Plus a per-page "Theme colours" setting for any clock face (render all the clock faces in a theme of your choice 🥳).
Extensions - an upgraded extension is now rebuilt in place instead of silently running the old code until restart (which also made the badge push think it was up to date). Update checks report failure instead of looking like "up to date", and the UI has gained a Check again button.
macOS tray - pairing Approve/Deny did nothing and pairing timed out (issue #5). Notifications now come with a shiny new working inline Approve button. The broken osascript fallback (for non-native installs) has been removed, since it would always be broken.
ℹ️ statsbadge-wildfires now has a 1.0.1 release to fix a crash bug!

Clock v1.3.0
Add a new "amsterdam" station clock, reflecting the new(ish) station clocks seen throughout stations in the Netherlands. I spent entirely too much time watching the mesmerising sinusoidal second hand progression on station platforms.

Version 2.2.0
Add some quick recipes to make setting up a new badge a little easier.

Full Changelog: v2.1.2...v2.2.0
Version 2.1.2
Version 2.1.1
Move the global location settings to a less asinine place in the config UI (they were lost under "Help" 🤦 )
Version 2.1.0
This build makes location a global config setting, shared as a default by wildfires (new plugin 🎉 ) and the clock's weather feature.
It also adds reverse geocoding lookup which is currently used only by the new wildfires plugin to get a place name from a LAT/LON point.
Pairing retry security has been simplified, it was a little contrived for something that only affects a brief window and is often not needed at all (statsbadge install pairs for you, offline).
Clock got a bugfix, so the digital faces don't draw broken before data has arrived.
Update mostly just for the wildfires plugin, but drags in a bunch of cleanup for fun.
