ESPsoup Beta 0.4
ESPsoup public beta 0.4 (app version 0.12.15) — receive-only radio scanner for the ESP32-C5, now with an experimental 60 GHz radar tool and RTL-SDR / PlutoSDR support.
Install (Android 7+): download ESPsoup-beta-0.4.apk (5.1 MB), allow installing from this source, plug an ESP32-C5 into the phone with a USB-OTG adapter — use the board's native USB port, not the UART/CH340 port. Updating from beta 0.1/0.2/0.3 keeps your settings.
What's new in 0.4
| Area | New | Status |
|---|---|---|
| 📡 60 GHz radar (new tool) | With the Seeed Studio MR60BHA2 kit (XIAO ESP32-C6 + HLK-LD6002 60 GHz radar) and the new ESPsoup radar firmware: presence, distance, target position with trail, point cloud, breathing and heart rate (person sitting still 0.4–1.5 m away), live charts (vital signs, distance, phase), top-down view, detection-zone settings, optional floating radar overlay on the spectrum / waterfall. Only shown while the radar firmware is connected | ◐ experimental · needs the MR60BHA2 kit, the ESP32-C5 can't do this |
| 🔧 Firmware installer | Device → Firmware now offers the right firmware per chip: ESP32-C5 → ESPsoup firmware 0.7.1, ESP32-C6 → ESPsoup radar firmware 0.7.2; backup first and every write verified, as before. C6 boards no longer get the "update to 0.7.1" hint | ✅ |
| 📻 External SDRs | RTL-SDR and PlutoSDR added: over WebUSB in desktop Chrome / Edge — receiver picker, live spectrum and waterfall | ◐ spectrum and waterfall only · decoders still need the ESP32 · not on Android yet |
| 🔍 Find | Automatic close-range gain cut in 10 dB steps with a tone hint, "body shadow" bearing toggle, direction arrow to the estimate, suggested next measuring point, terrain-aware location estimate | ✅ |
| 🗺️ Offline map | Save OpenStreetMap tiles and terrain around you and use them without internet (e.g. in airplane mode) | ✅ |
| 🐞 Diagnostics | REC button for a diagnostics recording: one .tar with events, spectra and SigMF I/Q to attach to a bug report |
✅ |
| 📶 Mobile networks | Picker in Spectrum: operator uplink / downlink blocks per EU country, one tap to tune | ✅ |
| 🏷️ Vendor lookup | Manufacturer names (IEEE) for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth MAC addresses | ✅ |
| 🕵️ Fewer false finds | Spur rejection in the camera / bug finder and in Scan (spur mask per board + retune check) | ✅ |
| 🔎 Scan | "Clear finds" button (tap twice); searches keep running until you stop them | ✅ |
| 🌍 Languages | All radar and installer texts in all 23 languages | ✅ |
| 🛠️ Fixes | ANT decoder no longer throws on malformed data; new attributions (IEEE OUI, Bluetooth SIG company IDs, OpenStreetMap, Mapzen / AWS Terrain Tiles, mobile band data) in THIRD_PARTY.md | ✅ |
Hardware for the radar: the 60 GHz radar tool needs the Seeed Studio MR60BHA2 60 GHz mmWave kit (XIAO ESP32-C6 + HLK-LD6002 radar) — https://espsoup.com/go/mr60bha2 . It is not a receiver for the other tools; the ESP32-C5 stays your main board.

Firmware:
- ESP32-C5: unchanged — the app installs the ESPsoup firmware 0.7.1 (GPL-3.0-or-later, a fork of ESP-SDR by ESPARGOS). Its complete source code is attached (
espsoup-firmware-0.7.1-source.tar.gz). - ESP32-C6 (MR60BHA2 kit): new ESPsoup radar firmware 0.7.2 (GPL-3.0-or-later, a fork of the ESPsoup firmware) — receive-only ESP-SDR plus a link to the kit's radar module. Install it from the app (Device → Firmware, backup first, every write verified) or with esptool. Its complete source code is attached (
mr60bha2-sdr-firmware-0.7.2-source.tar.gz).

Beta: expect rough edges; the radar tool is experimental and its vital signs are not medical measurements. ESPsoup only receives (the MR60BHA2 radar module itself emits 60 GHz, as every radar sensor does); rules on receiving radio signals differ between countries.
ESPsoup Beta 0.3
ESPsoup public beta 0.3 (app version 0.12.10) — receive-only radio scanner for the ESP32-C5.
Install (Android 7+): download ESPsoup-beta-0.3.apk, allow installing from this source, plug an ESP32-C5 into the phone with a USB-OTG adapter — use the board's native USB port, not the UART/CH340 port. Updating from beta 0.1/0.2 keeps your settings.
