PlayFusion 1.0.4 Updater Repair
PlayFusion 1.0.4 is a cumulative updater repair for all PlayFusion 1.0.x systems.
It replaces Windows CRLF-contaminated Linux launchers and privilege rules from the original 1.0.3 incremental asset. This restores MP3 and Digital Jukebox playback, DVD playback, privileged game mounts, reboot actions, required services, executable permissions, and projectM library configuration.
Open Extras > Check for Updates. The updater verifies the PlayFusion signature, creates a rollback backup, preserves games/saves/profiles/firmware/themes/media, installs the repair, and reboots.
This is an update-only hotfix. The existing Full and Lite installer images are unchanged.
PlayFusion 1.0.3
PlayFusion 1.0.3
PlayFusion 1.0.3 is a cumulative update for PlayFusion 1.0.0, 1.0.1, and
1.0.2. It is available as a signed in-system update, an older-system bridge
ZIP, a Full installer with all 39 runtimes, and a Lite installer with Runtime
Manager.
Updating an installed system
Open Extras > Check for Updates. PlayFusion downloads the matching .pfu,
.sha256, and .sig assets, verifies the SHA-256 checksum and PlayFusion
signature, backs up every system file it will change, applies the update, and
reboots. A boot-health service automatically restores the previous system
files if the updated menu does not start successfully.
The update does not replace or delete games, saves, profiles, controller
layouts, firmware imports, media, active themes, background selection, or
audio settings.
PlayFusion 1.0.0 uses the release asset named
PlayFusion-legacy-update-v1.0.3.zip. The bridge verifies the same signed
package before installing it; it is not an unsigned alternate update.
Clean installation
- Full installer: includes all 39 release runtimes.
- Lite installer: includes Runtime Manager and downloads only selected
runtimes after installation.
Write the IMG to USB with Balena Etcher, boot it in UEFI mode with Secure Boot
disabled, and select Erase disk and install only after confirming the exact
internal target disk. The installer hides its own USB and refuses targets
smaller than 32 GB.
Neither installer contains console BIOS files, encryption keys, user saves, or
personal profiles. Import legally obtained firmware with BIOS Manager after
installation.
Update test checklist
After the first reboot, confirm:
- The About screen reports PlayFusion 1.0.3.
- The previous profile, avatar, saves, games, themes, and controller settings
remain present. - The selected HDMI/DisplayPort audio output remains selected.
- Internal and removable-media games still launch and exit normally.
- Runtime Manager and Theme Management open successfully.
- MP3 background playback, Digital Jukebox cabinet visuals, and fullscreen
projectM work. - Power > Soft Reboot returns to the menu without rebooting the computer.
If the menu cannot report healthy after the update, PlayFusion automatically
rolls back the changed system files on the next boot.
PlayFusion 1.0.2 (testing)
PlayFusion 1.0.2 is a testing/pre-release baseline. PlayFusion 1.0.1 remains available as the rollback installer until 1.0.2 completes real-hardware qualification.

Rebuild and install
- Download all five numbered
.partfiles,SHA256SUMS.txt, and the rebuild script for your OS. - Windows: run
Rebuild-PlayFusion-Installer.cmd. - Linux: run
chmod +x Rebuild-PlayFusion-Installer-Linux.sh && ./Rebuild-PlayFusion-Installer-Linux.sh. - The script rebuilds and verifies the IMG. Flash it with BalenaEtcher or another raw-image writer.
Warning: Installing PlayFusion erases the selected destination disk. Android/Waydroid remains experimental and no test APKs ship in this image. Use only games, firmware, keys, and media you are authorized to use.

Installer deployment hotfix (August 2, 2026)
- Fixed clean-install deployment failure caused by an archive/subvolume name mismatch.
- Preserved Linux ownership, permissions, hard links, and all 11,269 symlinks during repack.
- Verified a complete clean installation and an independent boot from the installed virtual disk before publishing.
PlayFusion 1.0.1
PlayFusion 1.0.1
PlayFusion 1.0.1 is a maintenance release for clean public installations.
Primary fix
Settings, profiles, themes, and other Kazeta+ application data now use a
persistent writable directory under /var/kazeta. The installer validates the
link, target ownership, save-directory ownership, clean factory library, and
deployment state before reporting success.
Real-hardware verification
- Clean installation completed successfully.
- The installed internal drive booted without the installer USB.
- Theme and interface settings persisted across multiple reboots.
- Additional profiles could be created and survived reboot.
- Movie playback and internal movie copying worked.
- HDMI/DisplayPort audio worked after initial output selection.
Known issues
MP3 and Digital Jukebox playback can begin briefly and then fail with exit code
4 on some systems. A controller mapping can send MPV an unintended quit 4
command at startup; this is targeted for 1.0.2 and is not a projectM or codec
failure.
Larger removable-media libraries can require a second insertion before every
artwork download appears. Detection and playback are unaffected.
Download and reconstruction
Download all ten numbered IMG parts plus the rebuild script for your operating
system. Keep them together, run the rebuild script, and flash the reconstructed
PlayFusion-1.0.1-Public-Installer.img with BalenaEtcher or another raw-disk
imaging tool.
