Export Blender scenes to Mitsuba's XML scene format for offline rendering with the Mitsuba 3 (https://mitsuba-renderer.org) physically-based renderer.

This release is a maintained fork of the original mitsuba-renderer/mitsuba-blender (https://github.com/mitsuba-renderer/mitsuba-blender) plugin, updated to work as a native Blender 5.1 extension with automatic dependency installation.

What's included

  • Mitsuba 3.8.0 and DrJIT 1.3.1 are bundled — no manual installation required
  • Export meshes, materials, lights, and cameras to Mitsuba's XML format
  • Import Mitsuba XML scenes back into Blender
  • Render directly from within Blender using Mitsuba as the render engine

Changes from upstream

  • Ported to the Blender Extension format (Blender 4.2+, tested on 5.1)
  • Updated for Mitsuba 3.8.0 API (ThreadEnvironment, ScopedSetThreadEnvironment, and WriteXML removed upstream — bundled locally)
  • Updated for DrJIT 1.3+ array comparison API
  • Updated for Blender 4.0+ API (calc_normals, distribution types, sampling patterns)

Installation
