What's new

Cloudflare-protected providers

TorrentSearch can now unlock Cloudflare-protected providers, allowing you to search and browse them. Providers that require unlocking are clearly marked, and the process only takes a few seconds in most cases.

Note that unlocking isn't a one-time task — you'll need to re-unlock a provider again after a day or two. So how will you know when that's needed? Currently, there are two ways to check:

• If you don't see any search results, check for "Cloudflare challenge encountered" errors via ⋮ > View errors. If you see any, go to the Search providers screen and unlock that provider.
  

• Manually run Update protection status, then re-unlock the provider if needed.

There is also a new Protection filter with three options:

• Protected: Both locked and unlocked providers.
• Locked: Providers that still need unlocking.
• Unlocked: Already unlocked providers.

DNS over HTTPS setting

Some internet providers block access to torrent sites at the DNS level. Enabling this setting routes DNS lookups through an encrypted connection using a selected provider, bypassing these restrictions.

Details screen UI improvements

• Cover images are now displayed with a nice blur effect.

• Poster and screenshot images now show a proper loading indicator and error message while loading.

• Torrent descriptions are now automatically hidden for NSFW torrent details, with a button to show or hide them, and there's a new inline button to quickly copy a torrent's info hash.

Other new features

• Added an option to auto-detect supported categories when adding a new Torznab provider.

• Added pull-to-refresh support on the Details screen.
• Added a search bar to find providers by name on the Search providers screen.
• The swipe-to-delete icon on bookmarks now dims until you've swiped far enough to trigger the action, so it's clearer when the delete will actually go through.

• Resetting search providers to default now asks for confirmation first.

• After a fresh install (or clearing app data), you'll now see a one-time prompt offering to enable recommended torrent providers, instead of them being enabled automatically.

Note

Existing users will also see this prompt. Simply close it.

• A one-time tip now shows up to let new users know about the swipe-to-delete gesture on bookmarks.

• Other UI improvements:

  • Torrent list items now use a card-style design instead of the previous flat style.
  • Dropdown menus now have a more distinguishable background color.
  • The "Delete all" action on the Bookmarks screen has moved into the dropdown menu, with a refreshed look.
  
  • The "Enable all", "Disable all", and "Reset to default" actions on the Search providers screen have moved into the dropdown menu.
  
  • The "Dark theme" option on the Settings screen is now an expandable menu instead of a dropdown, contributed by @armanmaurya.
