| Key | Action |
|---|---|
| N (the Point button) | Add a point: arms the crosshair — next click places it (drag = a region; Point ▾ picks circle / rectangle / polygon or a ball marker). The new point joins the animal selected in LAYERS; else the animal whose silhouette is under the click; else the selected point's animal; else Scene (a notice says when a silhouette decided it — click it to move the point) |
| click (not armed) | Annotate by hand: place the point selected in the list on this frame, replacing the tracker's position (◆ on the timeline); on or beside the ◇, exactly at the ◇. Nothing selected = nothing placed (a notice says so; a click on a marker selects that point). Two quick clicks are two clicks, so frame-by-frame digitizing never loses one. One Ctrl+Z step |
| click another camera | Switch to it; with N armed, switch and place the point there |
| + Point (LAYERS) | A point with no position yet, in the selected animal (else in Scene), selected — in every camera's list |
| + Animal (LAYERS) | A new animal (a layer) with no silhouette yet, selected; give it points (N + click, or drag points onto it) and outline it with S if you like |
| drag points in LAYERS | Onto another animal (or one of its points) or onto Scene: they move there, renamed "<animal> <part>" in every camera (one Ctrl+Z step). Also the point's menu → Move to ▸ |
| A | With a calibration: place the selected point at the ◇, where two or more other cameras put it |
| Alt+click | With a calibration: where this spot can be in the other cameras (nothing is edited; Esc clears it) |
| Shift+< / Shift+> | First / last frame the selected point has data on; with nothing selected, the silhouette's first / last frame |
| , / . | Previous / next hand-placed frame of the selected point |
| T / Track | Track ONLY what is selected in LAYERS: a point row = that point, an animal row = its silhouette only (Ctrl+click its points to track both; nothing selected = nothing tracked). A point selected alone never runs the silhouette; if its animal has Keep its points on its silhouette ticked, it is held on the silhouette saved by an earlier run (free on frames without one). Landmarks derived from the silhouette fill in whenever the animal's row is tracked. The button says what it covers (Track · 3 points + silhouette ▶). The selection is saved with the project |
| Ctrl+A | Select everything to track: every animal and every point (Edit → Select Everything to Track) |
| click / Ctrl+click / Shift+click (LAYERS) | Select only that row / add a row / add a range — like a list of files |
| several selected + right click (LAYERS) / hold right on one of their markers | One menu for all of them: track these, clear here / in the window / whole tracks, delete, hidden here, show / hide, Tracker, fill gaps, Move to (another animal / Scene), and for two points of one animal Connect them with a bone (+ an animal's silhouette when its row is selected); a short right click on one of their markers clears all of them on this frame |
| AT / CT / MS (LAYERS point row) | That point's tracker — AllTracker, CoTracker3, Moving spot (right-click → Tracker); AllTracker and CoTracker3 points run one after the other, a point that stops ends the run for all |
| hold left + move | Pan the view — from a marker too; markers are never dragged. (A sideways touchpad swipe does not zoom) |
| right-click a marker (short) | Clear that point on this frame only, and select it (one Ctrl+Z step). On one of several selected markers: all the selected points on this frame, never the silhouette. Does nothing while the Pan tool (H) is on |
| hold right on a marker (½ s), or right-click its name in LAYERS | The point's menu: rename, appearance lock, data source, hidden-here, May leave its silhouette (free point), Move to ▸ (another animal / Scene), Use it as <animal>'s head, delete — plus go to its first / last / first hand-placed / last hand-placed / first doubtful frame; clear its position on this frame, in the selected window, or its whole track; fill the gaps between its hand placements with a smooth curve (or replace everything between them); and, with a calibration, snap it to the other cameras' rays or place it at the ◇ |
| J / Shift+J | Next / previous low-confidence (red) stretch |
| Shift+X | Mark the selected point hidden on this frame: kept, not exported, not used for 3D (again to unmark; timeline selection → right-click marks a window) |
| Shift+N | Note on this frame (green ▲ on the timeline; Edit → Annotator Name records who) |
| O / L | Onion skin (ghosts of the previous / next frame) / loupe (magnifier under the cursor) |
| View → Trails / Display filter | Fading trails — Off / Last 10 frames / Custom… (any length up to 1000) — with optional upcoming path, in every camera while Track ▾ → Every camera is ticked; contrast / brighten / frame-difference view (display only) |
| S | Segment tool: outlines the animal selected in LAYERS (with no animal yet, the first click makes one named "animal"; with one animal and nothing selected, that one; with several and none or several selected, a notice asks you to select one). Click the animal (Shift+click = not the animal, drag = box); S again or Esc when done. The animal's row is selected, so Track runs it |
| animal row (LAYERS) | Swatch filled = has a silhouette, outline = none yet, dot inside = its points are kept on it. Checkbox shows/hides its silhouette (the toolbar's Mask hides every one), double-click renames it and its points in every camera, right-click: rename, outline it (S), show its silhouette, Keep its points on its silhouette, midlines, jump to its first/last silhouette, clear its silhouette on this frame / in the selected window / all of them (clicks kept), save its points and bones as a skeleton template, forget its bones and head, remove the animal (its points go to Scene) or remove it with its points |
| Keep its points on its silhouette (animal menu, off by default) | Its points tracked by appearance stay on its silhouette: a point a few pixels outside is nudged back; a landmark that really leaves it stops the run at that frame (its track ends on the frame before). Right-click a point → May leave its silhouette (free point) to exempt it; Scene points are never held |
| two points of one animal → right-click | Connect them with a bone (again: Remove the bone between them); bones are drawn on the video and in the 3D view |
| Segment ▾ | Pick the segmentation model (SAM 3 / SAM 2.1), with each entry's weight status; last entry opens Settings |
| Ctrl+, | Settings: segmentation model (SAM 3 / SAM 2.1), Hugging Face token, mask opacity — also the last entry of the Segment ▾ dropdown |
| T | Start tracking / pause (semi-automatic mode: one step); with Track ▾ → Every camera, in each camera that has the points |
| Shift+T | Several cameras: this run in every camera that has the points here, all at the same time (X stops them all; one Ctrl+Z undoes all) |
| Space | Play / pause preview — pauses tracking while a run is live |
| X | Pause tracking |
| F / B | Frame forward / back (in semi-automatic mode, F tracks one frame forward) |
| Shift+F / Shift+B | Jump forward / back by the step size (toolbar spinner) |
| H | Pan tool — a tool for looking: a click or right click on a marker edits nothing while it is on (middle-drag always pans). H or Esc ends it; so does picking Point (N) or Segment (S): only one of Pan / Point / Segment is on at a time |
| + / − (or =) | Zoom the video in / out around the pointer (also the zoom buttons in the picture's lower-right corner) |
| Shift+ + / Shift+ − | Zoom the timeline's time axis (also Ctrl+wheel over it, or the three magnifier buttons in the timeline's top-left corner) |
| ← / → (Shift: ±step) | Step frames |
| Home / End | First / last frame |
| E | Mark event start / end at the current frame |
| R | Reset view (fit video to window; also the fit button in the picture's lower-right corner) |
| Shift+C | Clear the frame cache and re-decode the current frame (failsafe for a stale/garbled picture) |
| Shift+drag (timeline) | Select a frame window and the lanes under the drag — silhouette lanes, point lanes, or both |
| Delete | Clear the timeline selection (the lanes it covers decide: silhouettes, those points' tracks, or both) — or, with no selection, delete what is selected in LAYERS (also the LAYERS Delete button; for an animal it asks whether its points move to Scene or go too; removing an animal cannot be undone) |
| Esc | In this order: leave the segment tool, cancel point placement (or a half-drawn region), leave the pan tool, cancel a half-marked event, clear the timeline selection, clear the look-here line of an Alt+click, deselect the point |
| Ctrl+Z | Undo the last tracking run or the last edit (a click, a right-click clear, Ctrl+click, Delete, Shift+X, a timeline clear). Clicks with the segment tool are not part of it (right-click a click → Remove this click) |
| M | Several cameras: the working camera alone, filling the view area (the others pause); M again puts every camera back where it was (same order, sizes, hidden ones stay hidden) |
| Ctrl+2 | Show only the working camera (hides the others and stops them decoding); again to show them — the same switch as M |
| Ctrl+Shift+2 | Active view only: only the working camera reads its video, the others stay where they are; again for Sync all views (View → Other cameras; Sync all in the CAMERAS panel) |
| Ctrl+1 | Show / hide the Layers panel (View → Layers panel) |
| Ctrl+3 / Ctrl+4 / Ctrl+5 | Reconstruct 3D landmarks / carve the volume at this frame / show the 3D view |
| 3D → Set World Axes… | Choose the 3D world's origin, +X and +Y from three landmarks (+Z by the right-hand rule) |
| Ctrl+6 | Body: the side-by-side view |
| Enter / double-click | Close a polygon region |
| F1 | The user manual (Help → Keyboard & Mouse Reference lists every key) |
| Ctrl+O / Ctrl+Shift+O | Open video / project |
| File → Open Folder of Videos… | Several cameras in one folder: tick which videos to import, put them in camera order (camera 1 = the reference); saved as one project |
| eye / title bar | CAMERAS: the eye shows / hides a camera's view; drag a view's title bar onto another view to move it (display only); right-click a title bar: hide it, show every camera, camera order |
| Ctrl+S / Ctrl+Shift+S | Save project / save as (Ctrl+S during a run: saved as soon as the run stops) |
| Ctrl+E | Export tracks |
| File → Export → Overlay Video… | An MP4 with markers, names, skeleton, silhouette, trails, frame counter, events and notes drawn on it; Speed slows it down against real time (2x-20x or any factor) and the video says "4x slower"; Views puts the cameras shown on screen together in one synced video |
