2020-2021 Goals

I'd like to put an item on the next project team agenda where we can discuss project-wide goals to try to focus (particularly across teams) what we're all going to work together towards in the next year. In particular to avoid siloed working.

I am sending around a doodle poll to team leaders (non-language teams) to have an initial meeting about this.

Some suggestions from a meeting of Tech Lead (@ZoeLeBlanc), Comms Lead (@jenniferisasi) and ProgHist lead (@acrymble) for consideration of a wider set of goals for the coming 12-18 months. These are from the perspective of the teams responsible for 'publisher' tasks (the infrastructure teams) rather than the publications themselves. They are all 'big' ideas rather than single-ticket tasks.

• Raise money to sustainably hire someone to take on active maintenance activities (To be determined), and move away from volunteer labour on tasks to do with supporting our infrastructure. Job Description for potential future paid role #1856
• Simplify the procedures and significantly reduce the effort required for new publications to get going
• Develop more comprehensive training opportunities for new editors to increase skill faster and build confidence.
• Develop a new internal communication plan that reduces email. Especially thinking of Google Groups & Github Tickets.
• Develop sustainable means of supporting publication outreach activities Idea for PH sponsored workshops #1867
• Global, Tech, Comms, and ProgHist teams to work more closely as a 'publisher' function providing infrastructure. Beginning with quarterly meetings.

We welcome thoughts and additional ideas.

The ProgHist board has set a list of goals for its own work this coming year. We will be circulating this to "members" of ProgHist ltd for comment in the coming days, and asking for any feedback to come within a week of our next Project Team meeting so that we can amend any goals before moving forward.
