Wattle Notes is vibe coded with AI assistance. This is an early developer alpha for Apple Silicon Macs.

Changes

  • Fix local image attachments in Split preview and Read, including filenames containing spaces, Unicode and escaped characters.
  • Paste copied images into Write, Split or Read with Cmd+V. Images are saved as local attachments, with a 10 MiB limit per image.
  • Edit Markdown directly in Read with rendered formatting, images, a formatting toolbar and keyboard shortcuts. Complex blocks such as tables, fenced code and raw HTML remain editable Markdown.
  • Preserve undo history and pending image pastes when switching views, and prevent a delayed paste from inserting into a different note or notebook.

Downloads

  • wattle-notes-macos-arm64.zip: Wattle Notes 0.1.1 for macOS Apple Silicon.
  • wattle-notes-source.zip: matching source, licensed GPL-3.0-or-later, including third-party notices and a source-file checksum manifest.
  • SHA256SUMS.txt: SHA-256 hashes for both ZIP archives. These detect corruption; they are not code signatures.
  • ALPHA-README.txt: installation and alpha limitations.

The app archive contains no notebook, local note database or remembered test-notebook settings. An existing installation continues to use its existing local settings and notes.

Validation and limitations

The image and editing changes passed 61 frontend tests, six release/script tests, 48 Rust integration/module checks, strict Clippy, and ten app browser checks. Native Mac checks exercised image rendering, clipboard image paste and saving from Read using a separate synthetic notebook.

This build is unsigned and not notarized. Public Google sign-in is not preconfigured; local notes work without an account. Cloud features still require live service acceptance testing. Local notes and retained history are plaintext. Windows and Linux packages remain unverified. Keep independent backups while testing the alpha.
