fix(branding): WorldScript W monogram icons (8-bit, fixes desktop build)#165
Merged
Conversation
…(8-bit)
The rebrand left generic placeholder icons (a clock-like mark) everywhere,
encoded as 16-bit RGBA PNGs, which broke the macOS + Windows Tauri bundler
("unsupported ColorType: Rgba16") — only Linux bundled, so the desktop
release was blocked.
Author a new WorldScript "W" quill-nib monogram (deep-slate + sky→indigo)
as public/favicon.svg and regenerate the full raster surface as 8-bit RGBA:
- public/icon-192.png, public/icon-512.png (PWA, incl. maskable; mark within
the 80% safe zone)
- src-tauri/icons/* via `tauri icon` (32/64/128/128@2x/icon.png, icon.ico,
newly-generated icon.icns, Windows Square*/StoreLogo)
- public/offline.html badge letter S → W
Fixes the v1.23.0 desktop-build blocker and ships real branding. The
ios/android sets emitted by `tauri icon` were removed (desktop-only project).

robots.txt, sitemap.xml, _redirects and CNAME.example still referenced the old StoryCraft-Studio GitHub Pages path, display name and example domain. Update to WorldScript-Studio (the sitemap <loc> and robots Sitemap line are user-facing SEO). Intentionally left unchanged: historical CHANGELOG/checkpoint records, the real local path /home/pc/StoryCraft-Studio, generated artifacts, the storycraft:// deep-link back-compat scheme, the storycraft-driver-popover token, and wrangler.toml's CF project name (infra rename = a separate deliberate step). … CF Pages rename (#166) * chore(release): finalize v1.23.0 changelog + rename CF Pages project Promote the [Unreleased] changelog to [1.23.0] — 2026-06-16 and add this release's remaining entries (Local-First foundation #140, OpenRouter reactive policy #163, Local AI i18n #164, WorldScript icons + URL cleanup #165, and Dependabot maintenance). Rename the Cloudflare Pages project in wrangler.toml storycraft-studio → worldscript-studio (CF is not actively deployed; the project rename on the CF side is a later step). Co-Authored-By: Claude Opus 4.8 <noreply@anthropic.com> * fix(tauri): resolve Vite base from TAURI_ENV_PLATFORM (fixes blank desktop window) The Tauri build detected desktop mode via `TAURI_PLATFORM`, the Tauri 1.x env var that Tauri 2.x never sets. Every desktop build therefore fell through to the GitHub Pages base (`/WorldScript-Studio/`) and 404'd its hashed assets under `tauri://localhost/`, leaving only the native file/help menu over an empty webview on Windows/macOS. Base resolution now checks `TAURI_ENV_PLATFORM` (legacy `TAURI_PLATFORM` kept as a fallback) and is extracted into a pure, unit-tested `config/resolveViteBase.ts` so the regression cannot silently return. No runtime landmines: locale/community fetches use `import.meta.env.BASE_URL`, which resolves correctly under `./`. Linux `.deb`/AppImage still require webkit2gtk-4.1 (Ubuntu 22.04+) — a Tauri 2 platform minimum documented in the changelog, not a bug. Problem
The StoryCraft→WorldScript rebrand left generic placeholder icons (a clock-like mark) across the whole brand surface, and they were encoded as 16-bit RGBA PNGs. Tauri's bundler rejects that (
unsupported ColorType: Rgba16), so the macOS + Windows desktop builds failed (only Linux bundled) — blocking the v1.23.0 desktop release.Fix
