Side 1.0.3 — Fix ChatGPT sign-in

Fixes OpenAI's Sign in with ChatGPT failing with “requires a device ID (UUID) for this installation.” Side now creates a persistent installation UUID and supplies it to Pi's OAuth flow. Signing out or restarting Side preserves this ID.

The compatibility checks now exercise both Codex and ChatGPT OAuth from the desktop-style bundle, including UUID persistence across restarts.

Download the DMG and drag Side into Applications. Installed release builds discover this version through the existing Electron update feed.

Validation: typecheck, lint (two existing warnings), three tests, bundled Codex/ChatGPT authorization and persisted installation ID checks, and GitHub CI passed. Account sign-in completion was not performed by the maintainer.

Side 1.0.2 — Notarized macOS release

This release adds Apple notarization to Side's public macOS distribution. The application and DMG are Developer ID signed, accepted by Apple's notary service, and include stapled notarization tickets.

Install

Download Side-1.0.2-arm64.dmg, open it, and drag Side into Applications. This release supports Apple Silicon Macs (arm64).

Automatic updates

The signed, notarized application is also provided in Side-darwin-arm64-1.0.2.zip for Electron's macOS updater. Existing release builds check for newer versions at startup and hourly and prompt you to restart. Bundle ID and Developer ID remain consistent with earlier releases.

Included runtime

Pi AI and Pi Coding Agent 1.0.4. Repository automation checks for future Pi updates and opens verified PRs for manual review.

Validation

• Apple accepted both the application and DMG notarization submissions.
• Stapled tickets validated for the packaged app, ZIP-extracted app, and DMG.
• Code-signature verification and Gatekeeper assessment passed.
• DMG checksum and uploaded asset SHA-256 digests verified.
• Compatibility CI passed.

End-to-end installation through Electron's updater has not been verified. The minimum supported macOS version has not been established.

Side 1.0.1

Updates the bundled Pi runtime from 0.87.0 to 1.0.4 (pi-ai and pi-coding-agent).

The repository now checks for new Pi versions daily, verifies compatibility, and opens an update PR for manual review. Future Pi updates reach installed apps through new Side releases.

Side 1.0.0 checks for this stable release at startup and hourly. Side-darwin-arm64-1.0.1.zip contains the signed app archive used by Electron's macOS updater. The bundle ID and Developer ID match 1.0.0. Update-service caching may delay discovery.

• App and ZIP-extracted app passed deep, strict code-signature verification.

Distribution status

The app and DMG are Developer ID signed. Apple notarization is not configured, so Gatekeeper may block installation on another Mac. End-to-end installation through the updater has not been verified.

Side 1.0.0

Side’s first public macOS release: a Dock-adjacent chat panel for Pi-supported models, provider sign-in, reasoning controls, and local session history.

Install

Download Side-1.0.0-arm64.dmg, open it, and drag Side into Applications. This release supports Apple Silicon Macs (arm64). Accessibility access lets Side position the panel beside your Dock.

Automatic updates

This build checks for newer stable GitHub releases at startup and hourly via Electron’s public update service. Updates download in the background and prompt you to restart. Side-darwin-arm64-1.0.0.zip is the signed application archive used by the macOS updater; the DMG is for initial installation.

Older local builds without the updater need to be replaced with this release once. Future releases must use a higher desktop version, a stable SemVer tag, matching arm64 ZIP, and consistent bundle ID and Developer ID signing.

Distribution status

The app and DMG are Developer ID signed. Apple notarization is not configured for this release, so Gatekeeper may block installation on another Mac. Automatic update installation has not yet been verified between two released versions.
