MenuBarIO 0.5.0
MenuBarIO 0.5.0
This release introduces the new MenuBarIO product identity while keeping
the app's local hardware-inspection behavior and upgrade continuity intact.
USB, Thunderbolt, USB4 & Bluetooth Inspector for macOS
Changes
- Renames the app, executable, Xcode project, targets and release artifacts
from PortGlance to MenuBarIO - Adds the localized product subtitle to the current and legacy settings views
- Renames the source, test and branding paths together with the build, test,
signing, notarization and publication scripts - Preserves the legacy app bundle identifier
de.r3d.menubarusb.tb, so existing
preferences and the login-item identity continue to work - Keeps the original MenuBarUSB authorship and MIT license attribution while
making the independent maintenance and lack of affiliation explicit - Does not change device discovery, hardware classification or the local-only
privacy model
Compatibility and privacy
- Universal app for Apple Silicon (
arm64) and Intel (x86_64) Macs running
macOS 13 or newer - Device and power information remains local; the app contains no telemetry,
analytics, update checks or network client code
Validation note
All 64 automated tests, static analysis, privacy and localization audits, the
Universal build and the local launch smoke test passed. A direct UI check
confirmed that MenuBarIO and its localized subtitle fit in the German settings
view and that the main device view shows the new product name.
