First public release of FalconSDR - a wideband SDR scanner that records only the transmissions it actually stops on, with a browser interface that works on the computer itself or from any phone or PC on your network.

Highlights

  • Scans the whole capture bandwidth of your SDR at once and records several simultaneous conversations in parallel
  • Any bands (aviation, marine, PMR, ham, public services, military UHF…), presets, a Memory List of named channels, priorities and a blacklist
  • Live listening, spectrum and signal level in the browser
  • One file per transmission (WAV or MP3), quality score, search, favorites, statistics
  • Optional Whisper speech-to-text, installable from the app; can run on another computer with a GPU
  • Headless server mode for an always-on receiver
  • English and Polish interface

macOS builds are experimental: built automatically and self-tested, but not yet tried on a real Mac with an SDR. They aren't signed by Apple - right-click the app → Open; if macOS says it "is damaged", run xattr -dr com.apple.quarantine /Applications/FalconSDR.app. Feedback in Discussions is very welcome.

Other systems (Fedora, Arch, Raspberry Pi…): run from source, see the README.

Before you start

  • Windows: the RTL-SDR needs the WinUSB driver once (Zadig) - the installer shows how. The program isn't code-signed yet, so SmartScreen may warn: More info → Run anyway.
  • Linux: unplug and replug the dongle once after installing.
  • Listening to and recording some radio services is restricted or illegal in many countries - check the law where you live.

Known limitations

  • Tested with an RTL-SDR Blog V4 on Linux and Windows 11; other receivers (via SoapySDR) and the macOS builds are untested.
  • The packaged builds support RTL-SDR only; other hardware needs the source install with SoapySDR.

PL: Pierwsze publiczne wydanie. Instalator Windows obsługuje język polski, a interfejs programu przełącza się na polski automatycznie (lub w Ustawieniach).
