Harmonist 1.30.0

Choose a tag to compare

@randomphrase randomphrase released this 22 Oct 21:46
v1.30.0
548b39a

Added

  • Artwork updates can wait in the Inbox: When an artwork update is found in Settings picks which. Albums with Better artwork wanted always wait there (#852, #859).
  • Artwork additions can be applied automatically: tick Apply for Addition under When an artwork update is found. Replacements never are (#853).
  • Inbox artwork updates can be applied several at once: tick them, or a whole group, and press Apply (#859).

Fixed

  • Choosing Use from a name search opens review before tagging, even when the tracks match exactly (#848).
  • Settings refuses a malformed MusicBrainz user agent with the form it must take, instead of saving it and failing the next startup (#856).

Harmonist 1.29.0

Choose a tag to compare

@randomphrase randomphrase released this 20 Oct 21:56
v1.29.0
a7d37d8

Added

  • Inbox tag updates can be applied several at once: tick them, or a whole level, and press Apply; Structure updates stay on the album page (#814).
  • MusicBrainz IDs in tag changes show as the names they identify, linked to MusicBrainz (#801).

Changed

  • A tag change that differs per track lists each track's value under its field, instead of "N different values" (#820).
  • The startup update check runs about five times faster (#793).
  • Inbox tag update cards are more compact, showing up to three changes before a Show all (#801, #811).
  • The status bar names the album an update pass is writing and counts its tracks (#815).
  • Browser interactions no longer depend on a JavaScript CDN being reachable (#825).
  • Splitting a collaboration's /-joined artists into separate artists ranks as Enrichment, not Identity (#804).

Fixed

  • Keyboard focus in an Inbox card stays put when the Inbox refreshes (#802).
  • An Inbox refresh while a suggestion is loading no longer loses its release artwork (#821).
  • An open Library filter menu stays open when the Library refreshes in the background (#823).
  • Status bar reports clear after ten seconds, errors excepted (#816).
  • The startup update check reports the counts the page shows (#818).

Harmonist 1.28.0

Choose a tag to compare

@randomphrase randomphrase released this 19 Oct 00:42
v1.28.0
f37ea3b

Added

  • Tag updates can wait in the Inbox, each showing its two most significant changes. When a tag update is found in Settings picks the levels; Structure by default (#273, #784).
  • Tag updates can apply themselves at levels ticked in the same setting, never Structure; each write is in History with Undo (#273).
  • Docker images support 64-bit ARM, including Raspberry Pi with a 64-bit OS (#766).
  • Albums with a pregap joined to track 1 can count it as present, a per-album choice in the track assignment editor (#242).
  • The main track listing can switch between titles and filenames (#762).
  • The status bar shows background update checks and artwork reads while they run (#757).

Changed

  • Library updates is now Check MusicBrainz for updates, with In the background in place of Find updates for review (#273).
  • The status bar is live on every page (#757).
  • Mismatch dismissals last until a better sibling or new source evidence turns up; existing acceptances are unchanged (#779).
  • The Activity feed only announces tag updates bound for the Inbox; the rest stay under the Tag updates filter (#273).
  • Structure now ranks above Identity in severity badges and the Tag updates menu (#273).
  • Tag changes are listed in one order everywhere: titles and artists first, identifiers last (#784).
  • Track assignments are edited from the pencil beside the Tracks heading (#756).
  • The track assignment editor matches the main track listing's styling (#762).
  • Settings uses bordered sections with shaded headings (#777).

Fixed

  • Hidden pregap tracks appear as track 0 and count toward the album total, and re-tagging no longer drops them from it (#242).
  • Tagging an album rescans only its own folders, not the whole library (#787).
  • Albums no longer drop out of Tag updates when their files change or a rescan rebuilds them (#758).
  • Using a MusicBrainz search result opens the updated album, not an album-not-found error (#798).
  • Tag and artwork writes show per-file progress, lock the album's controls, and refresh the album when they finish (#786).
  • Release selection falls back to name search when the files cannot identify a release group (#769).
  • Store URL searches show selectable releases even for a single match (#773).
  • Confirming a reviewed suggestion applies it once, without false layout warnings (#772).
  • Required track-assignment reviews say what triggered them (#750).
  • The track identifier hint only names actual differences from MusicBrainz (#242).
  • Extra videos no longer offer a tag update with nothing to change (#770).
  • Read again works while an album page is still loading its comparison (#775).
  • Cancelling the track assignment editor stays cancelled when the album's comparison refreshes (#776).
  • Inbox refreshes no longer lose track-assignment moves and resets (#795).
  • Open artwork previews survive Inbox refreshes (#792).
  • Artwork selected in the Inbox is no longer lost when the Inbox refreshes (#800).

Harmonist 1.27.0

Choose a tag to compare

@randomphrase randomphrase released this 15 Oct 16:47
v1.27.0
aecee19

Added

  • Library updates finds Cover Art Archive artwork to add or replace, under a new Artwork updates filter; every proposal waits for review, and Update available is now Tag updates (#269, #276).
  • An album can be marked Better artwork wanted, so new Cover Art Archive images are offered even when smaller than its current cover (#586).
  • Library filters combine with each other and with search, and add Format (by codec) and New (#732, #736).

Changed

  • An album's release is replaced on its own page: the pencil beside the MB release link opens the release picker there, its release group's other releases first, instead of sending the album to the Inbox (#743).
  • The New badge marks every album added in the last seven days, CD rips and other stores' downloads included (#733).
  • The Artwork panel shows while it is checking the Cover Art Archive, and keeps a retry when the check fails (#739).

Fixed

  • Confirming a different release for an album spanning several folders keeps it one album, instead of splitting it into incomplete parts (#730).
  • A chosen Cover Art Archive image shows in the After Apply preview, instead of a broken image (#742).

Harmonist 1.26.0

Choose a tag to compare

@randomphrase randomphrase released this 12 Oct 19:30
v1.26.0
f65d075

Added

  • Album titles can carry the release disambiguation only when it's needed, when the library holds another release of the same album: Title + release disambiguation if needed under Album title (#722).
  • Library updates can be filtered by significance, and album covers carry the same Identity, Structure, Enrichment, Cosmetic and Settings badges (#368).
  • The Library can be filtered by Origin (#728).

Changed

  • Audio formats are shown with their tracks, and album warnings sit below the header facts; a muted completeness warning no longer badges the Library cover (#720).

Fixed

  • A Bandcamp download linked from both a digital and a physical release is tagged as the digital one, instead of waiting for you to choose (#715).
  • Background Library refreshes no longer undo a filter, search or page change (#724).
  • Choosing a possible mismatch no longer jumps the page (#725).

Harmonist 1.25.0

Choose a tag to compare

@randomphrase randomphrase released this 08 Oct 17:17
v1.25.0
20f70c5

Added

  • An album's Origin can be corrected by hand, with Change origin on its page; mismatch and contribution checks use the choice (#694).
  • Qobuz albums can get a barcode suggestion when only one compatible release links to Qobuz (#704).

Changed

  • WAV and AIFF are no longer offered as download formats, since albums downloaded that way never appeared. If either is configured, Harmonist won't start until it's changed (#627).
  • The album page no longer lists Genre among its tags; Harmonist doesn't write it, and it stays in your files untouched (#224).

Fixed

  • Bandcamp downloads stop at a destination conflict instead of mixing files into, or skipping, a different purchase with the same folder name (#703).
  • CD rips matched to digital releases can raise a possible mismatch without an original UPC tag (#701).
  • On a phone, the header, the Tracks heading and a History entry's tag changes fit the screen (#710, #708).
  • A deleted release on re-tag, a failed Bandcamp sync and a failed artwork step each add one Activity entry, not two (#466, #713).
  • Re-download from Bandcamp says "Archiving…" while it archives the album, not "Tagging…" (#259).
  • A History entry's Undo sits at the right of its first line (#261).

Harmonist 1.24.0

Choose a tag to compare

@randomphrase randomphrase released this 06 Oct 20:47
v1.24.0
3abbc9e

Added

  • Artist names can be standardized as Picard 3.0 does, under Settings → Tagging. By default, as in Picard 3.0, an artist credited under a variant of their name is tagged with their own name. After upgrading, albums tagged with the credited spelling show a Settings update, and every cached release is fetched again, so Update available starts nearly empty and refills (#678).

Changed

  • The album-title disambiguation setting applies to albums already in your library: after upgrading, any album whose title doesn't match it shows a Settings update (#685).
  • Cover Art Archive images move to their own caa-cache folder, apart from undo backups, automatically on upgrade (#688).
  • Settings puts tagging and background updates first, with a Save button that stays in view (#687).
  • Settings shows the space and location of artwork backups and the artwork cache; backups now default to 1 GB, as the cache does (max_bytes under [artwork_store]) (#687).
  • Applying reviewed artwork no longer asks for a second confirmation (#683).

Harmonist 1.23.0

Choose a tag to compare

@randomphrase randomphrase released this 05 Oct 20:22
v1.23.0
24e7e9b

Added

  • A new artwork picker chooses each row's image from everything the Cover Art Archive has for the release, its release group and the group's other releases (#659).
  • A cover borrowed from the release group or another release gives way to the release's own front once it has one, whatever its size. Covers borrowed before this version aren't recognised as stand-ins (#663).

Changed

  • Origin sits beside the MusicBrainz release at the top of the album page: where the files came from, deduced from the marks stores and rippers leave in their tags. Each refresh control now sits beside the section it refreshes (#665).
  • Activity names the album when a scan starts tracking just one, linking to it, instead of "Started tracking 1 album" (#672).
  • Release review marks artwork "Identical to existing artwork" beside the image it matches byte for byte (#595).

Fixed

  • Tagging an album whose tracks carry their own artwork no longer warns that the artwork was kept (#670).
  • An album already tagged with a MusicBrainz release no longer looks itself up by barcode on arrival, which logged a spurious "Barcode lookup failed" (#671).

Harmonist 1.22.0

Choose a tag to compare

@randomphrase randomphrase released this 01 Oct 17:46
v1.22.0
5dc178f

Added

  • An album's page shows where its files came from — Bandcamp, Qobuz, Amazon, Beatport, CD or unknown — under Additional info (#634).
  • A CD rip with a UPC tag is checked for a possible mismatch, as a download is (#633).

Changed

  • A possibly mismatched download gets its own Library filter, Possible mismatch, separate from MB contributions; Don't warn me about this accepts the match (#618). Both filters fill in as albums are opened or checked in the background after upgrading.
  • Settings shows where the background update check is — albums checked this week, how many are waiting, when the next batch runs — replacing Check now (#623).
  • An album's History records the match you confirm and how it was found, not each suggestion before it (#639).
  • Clearing a MusicBrainz match with the pencil can be undone from the album's History (#639).
  • A suggested or tagged release is named, disambiguation included, rather than shown as a bare MusicBrainz link (#635).
  • Release titles in release choices link to MusicBrainz, replacing the separate MB button (#618).
  • Cover Art Archive images kept for album pages are capped at 1 GB; tune with image_cache_max_bytes under [cover_art] (#439).
  • The documentation is rewritten around solving problems: getting started, how it works, troubleshooting, configuration and security (#626).

Fixed

  • A CD rip with a UPC tag is no longer treated as a download: MB contributions now need a store's own tags (#632).
  • A release suggestion stays put until you confirm or dismiss it, rather than being replaced by a later lookup (#638).
  • An album's cover updates as soon as its artwork changes, rather than the browser showing the old image for days (#636).
  • An open artwork viewer no longer closes when the background artwork check finishes (#644).
  • Suggested-match reviews show current artwork while the Cover Art Archive loads, keeping the confirm controls in place (#654).
  • Activity names the album whose artwork was updated, as it does for other album actions (#658).

Harmonist 1.21.0

Choose a tag to compare

@randomphrase randomphrase released this 27 Sep 23:42
v1.21.0
fd2015d

Added

  • Albums with consistent UPC or barcode tags get a MusicBrainz release suggestion automatically, and release search can look up by Barcode (#607).
  • MB contributions use original UPC tags, such as Qobuz supplies, to suggest a digital release and to flag a barcode missing from or conflicting with MusicBrainz (#608).

Changed

  • MB contributions look for a better-matching release first, and show one finding at a time (#617).
  • Recheck is now Search, with Store URL selected, and a single match waits for your review instead of tagging straight away (#607).
  • A pending release suggestion hides the search and MBID tools until you dismiss it (#610).
  • Release search results and MB contributions' release choices share one layout, with Store URL matches or Barcode matches beside Use (#615).
  • The interface calls MusicBrainz releases "releases" throughout, not editions (#615).

Fixed

  • MB contributions no longer offer to add a store URL that another release in the group already links to, and offer that release for review instead (#612).
  • Artwork Fit sizes the selected image to the viewer, and opening or switching covers no longer pops open the image menu in Safari (#604).
