Building a Library (PS3)

ravenDS edited this page Jul 27, 2026 · 8 revisions

Building a PS3 Song Library requires a one-time setup to ensure everything works correctly.

PS3 versions are technically superior to PS2 discs, as they support an unlimited number of songs while using less disk space thanks to more efficient video and audio formats.

  • If this is your first time building a PS3 song library, follow this guide.
  • If you want to update an existing PS3 song library, see this article.

Requirements

MultiMan / WebMAN

MultiMan (mmCM) is required to launch the extracted game folder on a PS3. WebMAN is also supported.

Base Edition

A PS3 SingStar disc image (ISO) is required for the initial setup. Both encrypted and decrypted ISOs are supported.

Important

At the time of writing, the following two editions are confirmed to work and are recommended:

BCES00617 – SingStar Starter Pack (Europe) — CRC32: 1CABE00C
BCES02025 – SingStar Ultimate Party (Europe) – Patched (see below)

The PS3 system region (NTSC/PAL) does not affect compatibility with European editions or the in-game frame rate. There is no need to choose a different edition based on your console's region.

Warning

Support for other base editions may vary, and we may not be able to provide support for every edition. Regardless of the edition used, the game must be updated to the latest available version in order to load custom song libraries (e.g. v6.00 for SingStar Starter Pack) .

Ultimate Party / SingStar App

SingStar Ultimate Party and the SingStar App now support custom song libraries thanks to recently released patches. These patches are bundled with a pre-patched disc image, allowing Ultimate Party/App users to skip Step 3 (Decrypting & Extracting the ISO Data) entirely.

Step 1: Building the Song Library

Building PS3 data is straightforward. The language and menu music can be changed later in the in-game settings.

Select "PS3 (build local)" from the dropdown menu, then click "Build PS3 Data".

Once the build process is complete, continue to the next step to transfer the song library to your PS3.

Important

All contents of the selected output directory will be deleted. Make sure any important files have been backed up before selecting an output directory.

Step 2: Transferring the Song Library

Although the extracted game data can be launched from any drive, the Song Library (FileSystem folder) must be placed in the root of the PS3's internal hard drive.

Make sure your PS3 has enough free disk space before transferring the files.

Copy the FileSystem folder to /dev_hdd0/ using your preferred transfer method.

Folder names are case-sensitive. Ensure the final path is exactly:

/FileSystem/Export/

Tip

If everything has been transferred correctly, the folder structure should be:

/dev_hdd0/FileSystem/Export/config.xml

Step 3: Decrypting & Extracting the ISO Data

SST supports both encrypted and decrypted ISO images. The extracted files must be transferred to the PS3 manually.

Before continuing, make sure your computer has enough free disk space to extract the ISO.

  • Open the ISO tab and select Extract (+ Decrypt) ISO Data...
  • Browse to the desired ISO. If it is encrypted, SST will automatically prompt you to decrypt it.
  • ⚠️ IMPORTANT: When prompted to "Prepare Game Data", select Yes.
  • Transfer the prepared BCESxxxxx folder to /dev_hdd0/GAMES/ on your PS3 using your preferred transfer method.

Tip

If everything has been transferred correctly, the game folder structure should be:

/dev_hdd0/GAMES/BCESxxxxx

Step 4: Launching the Game

Launch SingStar using MultiMan or WebMAN.

Important

If prompted to install SingStar Update 6.00, select Yes. This update is required for SingStar Starter Pack and several other editions to load custom song libraries.

If your song library still does not appear, you may need to install the latest available update for your specific edition manually.

Your custom song library should now be available.

Enjoy!
