Disc‐Swapping (PS2 on PS3)

This guide does not apply to custom PS2 discs. Currently only official PS2 SingStar discs can be loaded via disc-swapping.

Requirements

Not all PS3 editions can load all PS2 discs. As for other guides, the recommended PS3 editions are:

BCES00617 - SingStar Starter Pack (Europe) — CRC32: 1CABE00C
BCES02025 – SingStar Ultimate Party (Europe) – Patched version

Extract PS2 ISO contents to a folder
Rename everything in this folder to UPPERCASE, including all files and subdirectories (Bulk Rename Utility can do this easily)
Transfer the extracted contents to your PS3 using your preferred method

A good practice is to keep all the extracted PS2 folders in one single directory.

For example, using the PS3 internal drive, structure could be:

Power on the PS3. On the XMB, press SELECT+START to get information about your PS3. Note the IP address.
Launch your SingStar PS3 game using webMAN, open disc swap mode by pressing SELECT
On another device connected to the same network, access http://(your-PS3-IP)/ (webMAN MOD interface)
At the top of webMAN interface, select Unmount to eject the PS3 virtual disc (currently our PS3 SingStar).
The message on PS3 screen will change to "Insert a SingStar Disc"

Now, edit this URL with your own path, in order to mount the PS2 folder as a virtual PS2 disc:
http://<your-PS3-IP>/mount_ps2/<path to folder>/

In my case, the final URL would be something like:
http://192.168.1.148/mount_ps2/dev_hdd0/SINGSTAR/80S/

Access the URL, wait for the page to load. Wait 3 seconds and insert the official PS2 disc (any game) in the PS3 disc drive.

Your PS2 disc will load inside the PS3 edition. Enjoy!
