Building a Library (PS3)
Building a PS3 Song Library requires a one-time setup in order to work properly.
PS3 versions are technically superior to PS2 discs, as they can hold an unlimited number of songs and use less disk space thanks to different video and audio formats.
- If you are building PS3 data for the first time, follow this guide.
- If you want to update an existing PS3 song library via FTP, check out this article (in construction).
A PS3 SingStar disc image (ISO) is required for the initial setup. It can be encrypted or decrypted, both work.
Important
At the time of writing, only one edition is supported:
BCES00617 - SingStar Starter Pack (Europe) — CRC32: 1CABE00C
It does not matter whether your system is NTSC or PAL. Do not pick another base edition based on that factor.
Warning
Using other editions as a base will cause issues, incompatibilities and will most likely fail due to various factors. We WILL NOT provide assistance for any other edition than the one mentioned here. Please do not report "bugs" for other base editions.
Important
While the extracted ISO data can be launched from any drive, the Song Library (FileSystem folder) MUST be placed at the root of the internal PS3 hard drive. Please make sure there is enough free disk space for your intended use.
MultiMan is required to launch the extracted folder on PS3. WebMAN is also an option.
SST supports both encrypted and decrypted ISO images. Transfer to the PS3 must be done manually. Please make sure your computer has enough free disk space for the extraction before continuing.
- Open the ISO tab and select Extract (+ Decrypt) ISO data...
- Browse to the desired ISO file. SST will automatically prompt you to decrypt it if needed.

⚠️ CRUCIAL: When prompted to "Prepare Game Data", choose Yes - Transfer the prepared BCES00617 folder to /dev_hdd0/GAMES/ on your PS3 using your preferred method.
Tip
If all steps are followed correctly, the PS3 game folder structure should be:
/dev_hdd0/GAMES/BCES00617
Building PS3 data is straightforward. There are no additional options, as almost everything is handled by the PS3 at runtime.
Language and menu music can be switched in the in-game settings.
Please note that all contents of the selected output directory will be deleted. Make sure all important data has been backed up before selecting an output directory.
Once the build process is complete, follow the final step to transfer your new song library to your PS3.
The Song Library must follow a specific folder structure in order to be loaded by SingStar.
- Transfer the FileSystem folder to /dev_hdd0/ on your PS3 using your preferred method.
The folder names are case-sensitive. Make sure they are named exactly /FileSystem/Export/.
Tip
If all steps are followed correctly, the final folder structure should be:
/dev_hdd0/FileSystem/Export/config.xml
Launch SingStar via MultiMan/WebMAN. Your song library should now be available.
Enjoy!
