Getting Started (Setup & Requirements)
You're one step away from creating your very own SingStar edition! Please read the guide below to get familiar with SST and its interface.
Before using SingStar Toolbox, you need to install the .NET 8.0 Desktop Runtime from Microsoft. If it is not already installed on your computer, you will be prompted to download it automatically when launching the software.
Another mandatory requirement is to download the latest version of ffmpeg.exe (direct link for Win10/11) and place it in the same folder as SingStar Toolbox.
Before getting started, please make sure your UltraStar song library meets the following requirements:
- Each song MUST have at least one video file. Songs that use online videos or audio only (no video) are not supported.
- Each song MUST have artwork in JPG, BMP, or PNG format.
- Each song MUST have a BPM lower than 340. This is a SingStar limitation that cannot be circumvented.
If BPM is higher than 340, use Karedi to divide BPM. Other editors may break lyric timing and/or cause video sync issues.
You can import one song at a time using the '+' button (alternatively, File > Add Song), or import all songs in a directory by browsing to a folder ('...' button).
Folder import includes all subdirectories.
Imported songs can be in UltraStar .txt format, SST2 format or SST3 format.
You can also convert songs from existing SingStar discs to the SST2 or SST3 format.
- Songs can be moved in the list using the up and down arrow buttons. This determines their order in the in-game menu.
- Songs can be previewed using the Play/Stop button.
- If a song’s
.txtfile was edited after being added to the list, refresh the song list using Songs > Refresh songs list.
- A song shown in Light Red indicates that its BPM is too high, and must be edited before it can be converted.
- A song shown in Blue indicates SST2 format.
- A song shown in Dark Red indicates SST3 format.
Once your song list is fully set up, select the target console (PS2 or PS3) and click the MAKE DISC button.
