Hedy and the Empatica Embrace Seizure Watch
Hedy wears a bracelet that monitors her for seizure activity. It's called the Embrace Watch.
Hedy should wear the Embrace as much as possible, including while sleeping. It takes an hour to fully charge, so we need to make sure the charging happens consistently every day.
The Embrace connects to Hedy's iPhone to transmit data via . If the Embrace detects a seizure it will send an alert to Hedy's Phone, and Hedy's emergency contacts stored with the service will be notified via text.
The best way to ensure the alert system works is to make sure the iPhone accompanies Hedy throughout the day. We recommend placing it in her backpack.
Hedy's Embrace watch and iPhone need to be charged every day. To charge the Embrace, connect it to its charging adapter. Make sure the ❤️ icon on the Embrace lines up with the ❤️ on the adapter as shown in the image below
The iPhone also needs to be charged daily and connected to the Internet via wifi or the cellular network to transmit data and alerts.
The subscription plan we've enabled comes with notifications to 3 caregivers. We are working on a solution that will allow staff to sign in for alerts during their shift, and as well to enable Alpha to support multiple direct alerts as needed.
