What's new

Highlights

  • Person Detection enhancements — now supported on USB (in addition to DDS), improved distance accuracy (center-of-mass with nearest-cluster selection and NMS), record & playback support.
  • Improved Close Range Depth expansion — now available on D555 (USB & DDS) and GMSL SKUs, exposed as a new embedded filter API (RS2_EXTENSION_CLOSE_RANGE_EMBEDDED_FILTER), with the library now loaded dynamically at runtime.
  • React-based Viewer preview — 3D point cloud view, firmware update from a user-supplied .bin file, metadata panel, device connection-state detection, and hardware-reset flow fixes.
  • Native ROS2 playback — playback of native ROS2 .db3 recordings is now supported.
  • "Intel" prefix dropped from camera visible names.

  • Fix post-processing filter controls reverting to default value.
  • Improve multi-FPS handling and display full API version (with build number).

  • MIPI/GMSL: add RGB controls (saturation, sharpness, white balance, power-line frequency)
  • Add RealSense-VID (0x38E5) UVC metadata wildcard.
  • CUDA pointcloud optimizations.
  • Support D555/D500 gold-FW recovery from DFU mode; fix D500 recovery firmware update (recovery PIDs, abort on failed recovery switch).
  • Security: remediate critical and high vulnerabilities (automated scans).
  • Compiler compatibility: fix GCC build errors, glibc detection with GCC ≥ 14, MinGW-w64 /W0 flag, consistent <math.h> includes.

  • Fix use-after-free in DDS device notification teardown.
  • Fix FPS issue when no metadata is present.
  • Fix dual D401 GMSL depth+color enumeration on a single MAX9296.
  • Fix multi-pin camera handling.
  • Fix playback stepping.
  • Fix rs-enumerate-devices DDS domain bug.
  • Re-apply manual exposure on Linux when disabling color auto-exposure.
  • Fix Windows slow-IMU partial device (HID gate uses device path).
  • Stop FW error polling cleanly on device destruction.
  • Fix per-cycle GL texture leak on stream start/stop.
  • Config file robustness: atomic updates, serialized access, coalesced background saves.

(3) There is 50% probability of up to 80% frame drops with Windows 11 builds 22621.3296 and 22631.3296 (KB5035853). Windows 10 RS5 or Win 11 KB5030219 (OS Build 22621.2283) do not have any frame drops
(4) This is compilable, but not validated
(5) Due to a known issue with Android 10 the Depth cameras may not be recognized by some ROM/Platform vendors.
(6) IMU stream is not working well on latest versions
