Superseded by 3D Model Pack v2,
which rebuilds every one of these models at higher quality, adds normal
maps to 22 of them and 49 models that did not exist here. Take v2 unless
you are deliberately running v1.7.0 or older.

Optional extra content: the 3D models that the geom="mesh" scenes load.

These are not part of the program. Together they come to about a gigabyte,
many times the size of Kaleidoscope Enhanced itself, so they live here instead
of in the installer, the portable zip or the git repository. The program builds
and runs perfectly without them.

Install

  1. Download whichever packs you want.
  2. Unpack the .glb files straight into the program's Models folder.
  3. Restart.

Any subset works. Each pack enables exactly the scenes that use it.

Pack Models Size Contains
KaleidoscopeModels-ships.zip 60 416 MB capital ships, freighters, couriers, tugs — fly-bys, docking approaches, atmospheric entries, holograms
KaleidoscopeModels-stations.zip 30 215 MB space stations — the six station families, and the far half of every docking scene
KaleidoscopeModels-earthbound.zip 18 110 MB the non-space props: hi-fi gear, museum sculptures, sea creatures

What they add

114 scenes across thirteen families: stations turning against nebulae and
orbited worlds, a capital ship making a slow pass close enough that you cannot
see all of it at once, a shuttle coming alongside a drydock, a descent that
ends deep in a planet's glow — and, away from space, a hi-fi deck whose front
panel is a live spectrum readout, a museum piece bursting into chunks on the
beat, sea life animated by vertex deformation, and a holotable that projects
any of the other models.

These scenes are spread through the normal presets by mood, the way every other
scene is. There is also a Modelle preset that is nothing but these, back
to back. It appears once the models are installed and is left out of the preset
list while they are missing.

Without the models

Nothing breaks. Each scene whose model is absent is skipped when the catalogue
is read, and the startup log says how many. You get a smaller rotation, that is
all.
