Salsa64 v0.2.0 (preview)
Pre-releasePreview release. Salsa64 is a Nintendo 64 emulator for the PlayStation 3 (homebrew, HEN or CFW), built around the Cell: the PPE runs the N64 CPU through a dynamic recompiler, the SPEs run the RSP (graphics and audio HLE), and the RSX draws at up to 5× the original resolution.

What's new since v0.1.0
Games
- Donkey Kong 64: from ~20 % to full speed. The recompiler no longer flushes its code cache every time the game toggles the FPU register mode (it did so ~260 times per second). The interlaced high-resolution logos, the "zoom" every other frame and the black zipper scene are fixed.
- Majora's Mask is playable: FlashRAM saves (128 KB, kept in save states too), the end-of-day bell zoom, the Scarecrow dance and Zelda's memory blur, and the telescope lens.
- Perfect Dark: intro at 60 fps (texture decoding moved to the SPEs and trimmed to what is sampled), and the rooftop motion blur at full resolution, read straight from the RSX.
- Star Fox 64: no longer freezes after 5 seconds, no static at the top of the screen, no flicker in game.
- Banjo-Kazooie: boots like the real CIC 6103 does (its copy protection used to scramble the camera); intro fade fixed.
- Conker: the face is no longer black. Zelda: N64 logo lines and Link's tunic fixed. Mario Kart 64: the black area above the Luigi Raceway wall is gone.
Features
- PS button: the game pauses while the XMB menu is open and comes back cleanly.
- START + SELECT asks before leaving the game (can be turned off in the menu options).
Performance
- The graphics SPE does less work per draw (combiner results are reused while their inputs don't change).
- Framebuffer copies no longer stall emulation (Perfect Dark intro, Star Fox logo).

|---|---|
| START + SELECT | back to the menu (asks first) |
| SELECT + R1 / L1 | save / load state |

Known issues
- Super Smash Bros. (and Smash Remix) freeze on the first KO. Workaround: create
/dev_hdd0/salsa64/fbfx.cfgcontaining1(turns off framebuffer copies back to N64 memory; some textures look stretched). Remove it for other games. - GoldenEye: thin blue lines along some polygon seams.
- Banjo-Kazooie: the jigsaw puzzle screens are black.
- Conker: shadows look square.
- Majora's Mask: lighting is wrong in a few areas.
- Star Fox 64: brief glitch on the opening logo.
- Kirby 64 and Pokémon Stadium 2: some textures show noise or a checkerboard pattern.
Legal
No ROMs, BIOS, PIF ROMs or any Nintendo or Sony material are included or accepted. Use backups of games you own.

Compatibilidad: a velocidad completa Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Super Mario 64, Mario Kart 64, Majora's Mask, Paper Mario, Mario Party 1 y 3 y Donkey Kong 64. Jugables: Perfect Dark, GoldenEye, Conker, Star Fox 64, Banjo-Kazooie, Kirby 64, Pokémon Stadium 2 y Pokémon Snap, con los defectos de arriba. Todavía no: Banjo-Tooie, F-Zero X, Diddy Kong Racing, Indiana Jones y Resident Evil 2. Doom 64 va al ~40 %.
Problema conocido importante: Super Smash Bros.
