Chromiator 0.2.0 - Linux preview

Artist-directed perceptual color-space partitioning and remapping, built with
native GTK4. This is pre-alpha software; keep backups of artwork and projects.
Saved-project and preset formats are not yet guaranteed stable.

Downloads

  • AppImage (x86_64): make executable and run. Built on Fedora 44; compatibility
with older distributions is not established. GTK is bundled; graphics drivers
and core system libraries remain host dependencies.
  • Flatpak (x86_64): install with flatpak install --user ./Chromiator-0.2.0-x86_64.flatpak,
then run flatpak run io.github.chromiator.Chromiator. Requires GNOME runtime 50.
Flatpak stores personal presets separately from the native application.
  • Source archive: exact checkpoint plus vendored Rust dependencies and Cargo
configuration for offline dependency resolution. Native GTK development tools
are still needed to compile it.
  • Third-party notices: accompanying Fedora library/resource notices for the
AppImage. Both application bundles also contain the project's license notices.
  • Verify downloads with the accompanying SHA256SUMS.

Highlights

  • Independent Source/Target sites, perceptual matching, smooth color transitions.
  • Nineteen built-in presets, including edited and newly supplied artist presets.
  • GTK4 color picker, accessible site controls, and a case-insensitive project chooser.
  • Revised user guide, dependency attribution, and GPL-3.0-or-later licensing.

Verification and limits

Built from source checkpoint 7f7f7353ff315c73636e5e3afc7a82ac9e7a37be.
The source passed 106 regular tests and strict Clippy. Each Linux package passed
six scripted native GTK scenarios in private Sway (shell, Voronoi, presets,
picker, I/O cancellation, responsive layout), with no reported warnings or panics.
The GTK project-filter regression also passed before packaging.

These are bounded smoke tests, not a clean-system compatibility matrix or full
portal save/export verification. AppImage screenshot rendering was inspected;
the private AT-SPI discovery helper timed out for that package, so packaged
assistive-technology support is not certified. Windows and macOS packages are
not included in this release.
