@robzilla1738 robzilla1738 released this 13 Oct 23:15

An unofficial macOS, Windows, and Linux companion for Muse Code, created and maintained by Robert Courson (@robzilla1738). Not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or supported by Meta.

Install

  • macOS (Apple Silicon): download Muse-Desktop-0.2.0-arm64.dmg.
  • macOS (Intel): download Muse-Desktop-0.2.0-x64.dmg.
  • Windows 10/11 (x64 & ARM64): download Muse-Desktop-0.2.0-win-x64.exe (or Muse-Desktop-0.2.0-win-arm64.exe / .zip).
  • Linux (x64 & ARM64): download Muse-Desktop-0.2.0-linux-x86_64.AppImage or Muse-Desktop-0.2.0-linux-arm64.AppImage (or .tar.gz).
  • Requires a separately installed, authenticated Muse Code CLI. Verified with CLI and SDK 1.4.7. The GUI uses your existing CLI sign-in, settings, and saved sessions.

macOS apps and DMG containers are Developer ID signed by Robert Courson and notarized by Apple; macOS ZIP archives contain stapled, notarized apps and are used by Sparkle. Windows and Linux builds check GitHub Releases for updates in Settings → About. SHA256SUMS.txt contains download checksums.

What's new in 0.2.0

  • Cross-Platform Support (macOS, Windows, and Linux): unified Mac-style frameless window chrome with traffic-light controls, cross-platform CLI/Git/Terminal discovery, and in-app update checking across all three platforms.
  • Workspace & Sidebar Polish: top-anchored Search conversations (⌘ K / Ctrl K), collapsible PROJECTS, CONVERSATIONS, and date groups, smooth open/close transitions for both the left sidebar and right project inspector, hover clarification on the Unofficial badge, and a jitter-free theme switcher that fits every theme name without clipping.
  • Zero-Glitch Chat & Theme Transitions: optimistic user message rendering on send, persistent GPU-accelerated background layers across all five themes, and unified composer/sidebar geometry across themes.
  • Transcript & Composer Upgrades: compact user message bubbles with inline copy controls, language-labeled code blocks with one-click copy, smooth expand/collapse on tool calls and reasoning, automatic grouping of 3+ consecutive completed tool calls, inline @file mention autocomplete, drag-and-drop file context, and live voice waveform metering.
  • Refined Files, Projects, Docs & Spotlight Search (⌘ K / Ctrl K): sticky file filter header and footer, clickable path breadcrumbs, file-type icons, line-numbered diffs with Ask Muse in the inspector, Git branch and working-tree status badges on project cards, smooth accordion transitions in Docs, and sanitized single-line search results.

Verification and scope

18 unit tests, 12 desktop tests, real CLI echo integration, and GitHub CI across macOS, Windows, and Linux passed. Both macOS architecture archives passed code-signature, notarization, Gatekeeper, and update-signature checks. The native Sparkle feed check was exercised on Apple Silicon.

Intel hardware, the oldest supported macOS version, and physical microphone capture in the final release were not independently tested. Some advanced CLI administration uses the Terminal handoff; this app does not claim graphical parity with every CLI command. See compatibility.
