BetterCleaner 26.0.2
Added
- Development now recognizes ~40 toolchains and IDEs (Pearcleaner parity plus extras): Bun, Deno, Poetry, uv, pyenv, sbt/Coursier, Composer, .NET/NuGet, Elixir, Haskell, Julia, OCaml, Crystal, Zig, Nix, clangd, Podman, Vagrant, minikube/kube, Terraform, Helm, Unity, Unreal, Playwright/Puppeteer/Cypress, sccache, plus the Cursor, Windsurf, VSCodium, and Zed editor caches.
- Glob-pattern cache paths, so version- and install-specific folders (nvm Node versions, Android Studio releases) are matched automatically instead of by a fixed path.
- Live search box in Development, System Junk, and Orphaned Files — filter the list by file name, path, or category as you type.
Changed
- Installed toolchains, SDKs, language runtimes, and IDE extensions shown in Development are never swept by Select Safe — only pure regenerable caches are pre-checked; the rest stay a deliberate per-item choice.
BetterCleaner 26.0.1
Added
- Finds leftover files most uninstallers miss: hidden files in your home folder (like
~/.configand~/.cache), dot-folders apps create, and temporary files — including ones in/tmp. - Reads what an app's installer actually placed on your Mac and offers to remove those files too.
- Surfaces helper apps signed by the same developer for you to review.
- Orphaned Files: assign several leftovers to an app in one step — tick the files you want, right-click, and choose Assign to App….
Changed
- Smarter, safer matching — better at telling which files belong to which app, so it won't grab a file that actually belongs to a different one. Anything it isn't sure about is shown for review instead of being selected automatically.
- Faster app switching — picking a new app immediately stops the previous scan instead of letting old scans pile up.
- Update options moved to Settings → General → Updates. Choose Manual and BetterCleaner stays completely offline until you check for an update yourself.
Removed
- The separate "Update" settings tab — its options now live in General.
BetterCleaner 26.0
Added
- Complete app uninstall. Drag an app in (or pick it from the list) and BetterCleaner removes the app plus everything it left behind — support files, caches, preferences, saved state, logs, and login data — all behind a single confirmation.
- Finds the leftovers other uninstallers miss. Deep scans track down every file an app owns and double-check it really belongs to that app before touching it, so nothing important gets deleted.
- Reclaim wasted space. Spot orphaned files from apps you already deleted, clear out junk caches and logs, and clean up developer leftovers.
- Nothing is ever lost. Deleted items go to a safe, restorable spot instead of vanishing. The Delete History shows what you removed, lets you search it, reveal files in Finder, and restore anything with one click.
- Right from Finder. Clean or uninstall straight from the Finder right-click menu.
- Clean, native design. A modern Mac interface with a sidebar app list and drag-and-drop to uninstall.
- Your rules. Settings to grant permissions, exclude folders you want left alone, and set your own cleanup conditions.
