Multiple Accounts (Beta)

Argosy now holds more than one RomM account at a time. Add accounts from the drawer and switch whenever you like: each one keeps its own view of the library, its own saves and save states, its own achievements, and its own settings. Saves are stamped with the account that wrote them, so switching never hands your progress to someone else, and sync work queued by one account finishes under that account.

This is early and it reworks how saves are stored and attributed, including for the single account already on your device (it gets adopted automatically on first launch). Single-account use looked clean in testing, but please report anything you find, especially saves appearing under the wrong account, sync stalling after a switch, and settings following you across accounts.

New Features

  • Remember the controller type on each port, for cores that offer more than one, per game or per platform
  • Xbox 360 support via XenDroid. The launch handoff has not been tested on hardware yet, so please report whether your games actually start
  • Expanded support for RetroArch standalone cores: Apple II, Macintosh, Enterprise, TI-83, Java ME, Commodore Plus/4, Commodore 128, PET, PC-8800, Mega Duck and CD-i
  • Footer hints respond to touch

Improvements

  • Settings reorganized so the top level reads at a glance, with Library on its own page that reopens where you left it
  • Home screen fits itself to the space available, so it works on phone-sized screens
  • Sign in on the device showing the pairing code, and recover from a failed poll
  • Game details show where a game's saves live
  • Play time is always tracked

Bug Fixes

  • Multi-disc games whose discs share one folder are now recognized, so they launch correctly and can change discs in game instead of stopping at the end of disc 1
  • Fix saves not syncing for multi-disc games, and for Nintendo DS on the built-in emulator
  • Fix Wii saves for .wbfs games, and stop a PS2 or GameCube restore touching another game's memory card
  • Fix "No core available" when launching Windows 9x games
  • Fix suspend, resume and quitting on hardware-accelerated cores, including PSP and Wii
  • Fix blurry text while the drawer is closed
  • Fix downloading a variant when the base game was downloaded as a single file
  • Stop offering save states where they are not possible or not allowed: cores that cannot write them, and the companion screen in hardcore mode
