Compress got a new engine.
- Every kind of image inside a PDF shrinks now: scans, screenshots, design-tool artwork including CMYK, images with transparency, and the transparency masks themselves. The old engine only handled plain photos, and files from scanners or design programs often did not shrink at all.
- Oversized images are resized to sane dimensions on the way through, which is where most of the savings come from.
- Text and vector drawings stay exactly as sharp as they were.
