Overview

  • Improve the Windows Desktop startup experience and workspace file discovery.
  • Publish versioned Windows Store upload packages while retaining separate signed sideloading packages.
  • Standardize Latin and Japanese font fallback across the Canvas renderer and PowerPoint export.
  • Keep the shared Canvas Extension, Skill, npm CLI, and Desktop product version at 4.2.0.

Compatibility and migration

This release is backward compatible with existing MarkdStage Markdown decks and the v4
installation model. Update version-pinned installation links to v4.2.0 and use the
versioned Store upload package name when preparing Partner Center submission.

Area Migration
Version-pinned installation Update the pinned tag to v4.2.0.
Windows Store package preparation Use CreateStorePackage.ps1 -Version 4.2.0.0; the output is named MarkdStage-Store-4.2.0.msixupload.
Font rendering Review exported decks if they depend on the previous fallback order; explicit theme font settings remain supported.

Requirements

  • npm CLI: Node.js 24 or later and Microsoft Edge, Google Chrome, or Chromium
  • Desktop: Windows 10 or Windows 11, x64 or ARM64, and Microsoft Edge WebView2 Runtime
  • Packaged CLI: WebView2 for script execution; installed Chromium for presentation, inspection, capture, and export. Remote-debugging policy can disable inspection, capture, and export.

Windows portable packages contain the presenter and command-line executables and
require no Node runtime. For GitHub Release sideloading, import MarkdStage.cer
into the trusted people certificate store, then install the MSIX matching the device
architecture. The Microsoft Store upload package is created locally and submitted
separately through Partner Center.
PDF/PowerPoint export remains CLI-only; the graphical app is a presenter.
Store availability and the Store URL will be announced separately after Partner Center
submission. Portable and sideloading packages remain available from this release.
Third-party license information is included in each distribution.
