Overview

This backward-compatible release adds the MarkdStage Visual Studio Code extension. It is a thin
wrapper over an installed MarkdStage CLI (npm or Windows packaged CLI) that previews, presents,
and validates the current Markdown deck, opens the Architecture Editor in a VS Code tab, and
installs or checks the generated GitHub Copilot Skill. The CLI continues to own parsing,
rendering, validation, workspace security, and Skill generation.

The extension is published to the Visual Studio Marketplace as okazuki.markdstage-vscode and
is also attached to this release as a VSIX. The packaged Windows CLI's local server now provides
the presenter window and PDF/PowerPoint export, matching the npm CLI, and the shared renderer no
longer clips slides at the right edge when a scrollbar is shown.

Compatibility and migration

This release is backward compatible. Existing Markdown decks, Canvas Extension installations,
npm CLI, and Desktop installations continue to work. The VS Code extension is optional and
requires MarkdStage CLI 4.4.0 or later within major version 4 in the environment
that runs the VS Code extension host, including remote workspaces. VS Code Web is not supported.

Area Migration
Version-pinned installation Update the pinned tag to v4.4.0.
VS Code Optionally install okazuki.markdstage-vscode from the Marketplace or the release VSIX, then install MarkdStage CLI 4.4.0 or later where the extension host runs.
Architecture Editor CLI option --architecture-editor-target window|same|host is new and optional; the default behavior is unchanged.

Windows portable packages contain the presenter and command-line executables and
require no Node runtime. For GitHub Release sideloading, import MarkdStage.cer
into the trusted people certificate store, then install the MSIX matching the device
architecture. The Microsoft Store upload package is created locally and submitted
separately through Partner Center.
PDF/PowerPoint export is available from both the graphical app and CLI.
Microsoft Store installation is available at https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9N9DG772RM03;
this GitHub Release does not publish a Store update. Portable and sideloading packages
remain available from this release.
Third-party license information is included in each distribution.

Overview

This backward-compatible release adds a continuous scroll view for slide decks and renders GitHub-style
[!NOTE], [!TIP], [!IMPORTANT], [!WARNING], and [!CAUTION] block quotes with semantic theme
colors. PowerPoint export preserves alert titles and bodies as native text over decorative artwork.

Compatibility and migration

This release is backward compatible. Existing Markdown decks continue to work; alert block quotes
and continuous scroll view are optional authoring and viewing features.

  • Open external HTTP(S) slide links in the host machine's default browser from CLI
    present and preview views.
  • Route link handling through validated token-scoped loopback endpoints while preserving
    the current slide.
  • Keep Node CLI, packaged Windows CLI, Canvas, and Desktop behavior aligned with browser
    and server coverage for the new handoff.

This release is backward compatible with existing MarkdStage Markdown decks and the v4
installation model. External HTTP(S) links opened from CLI slide views now hand off to the

Overview

markdstage_validate now checks Adaptive Cards in slide input before display, alongside
Architecture validation. Invalid cards are reported consistently with CLI and Desktop validation,
and card diagnostics include source locations and truncation details.

Compatibility and migration

This release is compatible with existing decks and installations. The slide-validation response
adds an adaptiveCards report, and its top-level valid value now reflects card errors as well as
Architecture errors. Valid decks are unaffected; decks with invalid cards are now correctly
reported as invalid before display.

  • Fix Adaptive Card TextBlock and Fact text so Markdown soft breaks (\n) render as visible
    line breaks in the in-app Canvas renderer and PDF export, matching the line breaks already
    produced by PowerPoint export.

Overview

  • Fix folder drag and drop in Desktop so folders open through the same workspace flow as
    Open folder..., while preserving Markdown file drops and existing workspace-window reuse.
    Unsupported or unreadable drops now report an error, including on the start screen.
  • Report degraded Architecture connector routing during validation and layout inspection,
    before its warning banner appears in rendered or exported output. CLI text reports also
    surface existing layout warnings.
  • Preserve rendered table column proportions in PowerPoint exports instead of assigning
    equal widths to every column.
  • Disable Shape editing on slides without an Architecture diagram, with an accessible
    explanation, and re-enable it when a diagram is available.
  • Keep the shared product version aligned at 4.2.6 across the Canvas Extension, Skill, npm CLI,
    and Desktop.

Compatibility and migration

This patch release is backward compatible with existing MarkdStage Markdown decks and the v4
installation model. There are no breaking changes or new runtime requirements. Routing
degradation remains a warning and does not change diagram validity or the clipping verdict.

Area Migration
Version-pinned installation Update the pinned tag to v4.2.6.
Desktop folder drops No action is required; folders now open as workspaces, and Markdown file drops continue to work.
Validation and inspection Text output now includes layout and routing warnings. Prefer --json for automation and allow additive diagnostic fields.

PDF/PowerPoint export is available from both the graphical app and CLI.
Microsoft Store installation is available at https://apps.microsoft.com/detail/9N9DG772RM03;
this GitHub Release does not publish a Store update. Portable and sideloading packages
remain available from this release.
