Mid Sprint 2 · Reporting period: Oct 13 – Oct 20
Good progress this week: the order gateway, order-status recovery, cash-reserve check, overlap prevention, versioned prompts, and the paper-only guard are all merged, and the frontend is now live on Vercel.
The remaining Sprint 2 work depends on the scheduler PR (in review), which connects the risk checks to the agent cycle. We are on track if it merges this week.
This week the agent moved closer to acting on its own decisions. It can now place an approved practice trade through the broker, and if a request times out it checks whether the order actually went through instead of sending it again, preventing duplicate orders. We added version tracking for the instructions the model is given, and the system now refuses to run against anything but the practice (paper) trading account. The dashboard's front end is also live online, and we strengthened the automated quality checks that run on every change. The main piece still in progress is the scheduler that runs the decision cycle on a timer; once it lands, spending limits, the approval step, and the dashboard come next.

- Only Alpaca's paper endpoint is allowed. Reason: no real-money orders. Impact: a live URL fails at startup.
- Order timeouts are recovered by lookup, not resubmitting. Reason: avoid duplicate orders. Impact: safer retries.
- Frontend runs on Vercel's free plan. Reason: no cost. Impact: site redeploys automatically from main.
