OpenStrap v2.1.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 25 Oct 13:38

Your day at a glance, without opening the app. OpenStrap 2.1 brings home screen widgets, drawn in the same light and dots as the app.

Home screen widgets

  • Five widgets, three sizes each. Every widget comes in Small (2×2), Wide (4×2) and Large (4×3), so any of them can share a stack.
  • Moment follows your day the way Today's lead card does: waking, midday, your usual workout time, during and after a workout, evening and night. When you've placed a widget for the metric it would lead with, it shows something else instead.
  • Recovery with your score, what it means and how the week went.
  • Steps with today's count, a line filling to your goal and the week.
  • Sleep with your score, time asleep and the time in each stage.
  • Start a workout with your usual sport one tap away and your next four beside it. While you record it shows a live timer, and Paused when you pause.
  • Strap status on every widget. A small round button beside the title shows when the strap isn't paired, its battery is low, the last sync is old or a sync is running. Tap an old sync to sync right there, without opening the app.
  • Real previews in the widget picker, with a line saying what each widget shows.
  • Stays current on its own. Widgets refresh when a sync ends, a workout starts or ends, the strap changes and at midnight. Moment changes on time through the day, and its minute counts move on only while the screen is on, so they don't wake your phone.
  • Built for battery and speed. Widgets draw on their own thread, so the app stays smooth while they refresh.

Changes

  • "Goal met" is now the wording everywhere a goal is reached, in the app and on widgets.

Fixes

  • The app no longer closes on launch when the Bluetooth permission was never granted or was taken back in Settings.

Upgrading

Installs over 2.0 and keeps all your data and settings. Android 9 or newer. To add a widget, touch and hold your home screen and pick Widgets, then OpenStrap.

OpenStrap v2.0.0

Choose a tag to compare

@github-actions github-actions released this 24 Oct 16:35

Answers, not dashboards. OpenStrap 2.0 is a new design from top to bottom. It tells you how you slept, how ready you are and what your day needs, in plain words, and every number opens to show why.

Highlights

  • A new, calm design. Dark cards lit in soft light, one colour per metric, numbers in dots, and a sentence before every number.
  • Today follows your day. Its lead card changes through the day: waking up, midday, your usual workout time, during and after a workout, evening and night.
  • Every card opens its own page. Recovery in an arc, the Sleep score in a horizon arc, and for every metric the last week, your normal and what moved it.
  • Workouts from the phone. Pick a sport, see your heart rate live on a zone arc, get a buzz on the strap when you drift out of your zone, track GPS with a map, and finish with a summary of the effort.
  • Charge is now Energy. It read like the strap's battery. The calorie metric is now called Calories.
  • Foldables and tablets. Two columns, with pages opening beside the list.

Also new

  • Strap buzzes for calls and notifications, with a choice of pattern.
  • Stays connected in the background: the strap reconnects after a restart without opening the app.
  • Habit Age: an estimate of how your habits are ageing you, with what moves it.
  • Pairing card animated for each step, from searching to connected.
  • Indoor walk is saved as its own workout, like Treadmill.
  • Find strap, restart and an off-body reminder on the Strap page.
  • The persistent notification now reads "Recovery 74, Energy 67" over "Strap connected, battery 32%".

Changes

  • Navigation. Each tab keeps its own place, and the tab bar hides while you're on a page. You and Strap are full pages that grow from their buttons.
  • The same thing looks the same everywhere. Over 20 mismatches fixed: one colour for Recovery, the same score words on Today and Sleep, the same normal for body signals, and Energy "drained" counted one way.
  • Workouts list shows each day newest first.
  • Breathing rate shows one decimal everywhere, steps keep their thousands separator, and skin temperature uses a real minus sign.
  • GPX export is removed.

Fixes

  • Today no longer crashes when a workout ends.
  • Live heart rate of 100 and up now fits inside the zone arc.
  • The heart rate since a workout draws as a line, not scattered dots.
  • The heartbeat glow no longer flashes on each new reading.
  • Tapping a list row lights the whole row.
  • Today's Energy card and the Energy page show the same number.
  • Deleted workouts stay deleted after a backup is restored.

Upgrading

Installs over 1.4 and keeps all your data and settings. Android 9 or newer.
