Cross-platform Node and Web UI

This Alpha delivers the first native Windows and Linux Balls Node with one CLI and browser workspace over the same local application behavior.

Verified outcome

  • native Windows and Linux ballsd and balls packages
  • local Circle creation, listing, and durable Node/Circle identity across restart
  • real Chrome workspace smoke with loopback-only listeners and fragment capability URLs
  • fixed Windows 2025 and Ubuntu 24.04 fast lanes, C# CodeQL, and OpenSSF Scorecard
  • exact release commit: 3935b6ac275b24c8ed2389862b012da747099f34

The exact Linux upload passed its archive and internal checksums, fresh install, structured CLI, real Chrome, loopback binding, and restart smoke in the owned Ubuntu 24.04 VM. The exact Windows upload passed the same end-to-end smoke on GitHub's Windows 2025 runner after one non-reproducible readiness miss on the first attempt. A separately downloaded copy was checksum-valid but blocked on the owner's managed PC by Enterprise Application Control because these Alpha binaries are unsigned; no security policy was weakened.

Assets

Both archives are runnable development Canaries. The matching installer verifies the archive checksum and every internal packaged-file checksum before starting ballsd and confirming readiness. The SPDX 2.3 SBOM is exported from GitHub's dependency graph for the accepted default-branch state.

These are unsigned prerelease artifacts. No artifact-attestation, background-service installer, macOS runtime, or Stable-support claim is made. Managed Windows environments may require an administrator-approved signing or allow policy.
